Anybody have any experience with the Oneida Super Dust Deputy?  link:  http://store.oneida-air.com/thesuperdustdeputy.aspx  I have the plastic DD and have been duly impressed using it with a CT33.  Apparently to be used with a non-cyclone to get separation upstream of the impeller.  I wonder if they offer it for less without the 30 gallon steel drum....

I wasn't to referring to using with the CT33 as that's already been covered.  I was thinking of using it an non-cyclone 2hp dust collector.  A much cheaper method than going full blown with an Oneida, but is it worth it?

I looked at the Super Dust Deputy to pair with the Delta 1 1/2 horsepower bag type DC I had at the time. Long of the short, I ended up with a full blown ClearVue cyclone (installation to be finished some day...  :-\ ). As I did more and more research, I quickly learned that the difference between "chip collection to keep the shop floor clean" and "fine dust collection to keep the lungs clean" was pretty significant. You should Google Bill Pentz if you want to learn a little (or a lot...). We ended up with the ClearVue as it was on sell at the time and we felt the installation could be good practice on various woodworking/finishing techniques. I also didn't really want to do business with Oneida because of the patent lawsuit they filed against ClearVue for the CV-Mini. With that said, the newer Oneida V-series cyclones are supposed to be pretty good, and installation on them is supposed to be really easy.

If you've already got the 2hp DC, I'd suggest selling/trading it and getting some kind of cyclone system, be it Oneida or ClearVue (I traded my DC for about 120 bd. ft. of nicely grained rough 4/4 cherry ;)). If you don't already have the 2hp DC, just get a real cyclone system...the Oneida V-series is only marginally more $$ than the Super DD + 2hp DC would be.

I've already have a Jet DC-1100 with a Lee Valley separator lid.  It would be nice to have a HEPA filter instead of that large micron canister Dust Dog filter.  I'll probably hold tight and wait for an Oneida to come up for sale locally.  No hurry.  But thanks all for the input.

I bought one when they 1st came out.  Its hooked to a 1 1/2hp delta with a wynn cartridge filter.  It works well with 5in duct and hose.  I dont get anything in the clear plastic bag that hangs under the filter.  The 30gal barrel is much easy to empty versus wrestling with the bag.  I have the clearvue mini hooked to a festool vac and that works well too.   I attached a picture.

I was going to go the Phil Thein baffle route but decided to try the SDD instead.  I'm happy with the performance.  That being said I wish it was a clearvue 1800 cyclone.  Maybe for my next shop.

I have had the smaller dust deputy for about 2 years and could not be happier. It is running with a Shop Vac 10 gal vac but have not had to change the bag since I installed the DD Jr. I use it for my contractor saw and router table at my windows shop. At my home shop I have a 2HP Jet with Big Dawg Filter. I was really tired of removing the filter and bag to clean out after what seems like a short time. Biggest problem is that if the bag gets much over half full, the dust gets drawn into the filter so I have to dump the bag and clean the filter. I put on a deflector similar to the new Vortex collector but only helped some.

About 2 months ago I got the Super Dust Deputy - WOW - I am delighted. I bought the deputy and an adapter to Tie into my 2 HP Jet system. I had a 30 gallon fiber drum but no lid. I made a lid of 1/2" MDF and mounted the SDD.  I cut a slot about 1" wide and 6" long near the top of the drum and covered it with acrylic so I could see when the drum was getting full. I have emptied the drum 6 times and the Jet collector bag is still dead empty. I have run my table saw, jointer, surface planer and router table with equal success. Takes about two minutes to empty the bag and get back to work.. Value  = 5 stars.. I have two cyclone units for about $300 and no bags and filters to change..  I notice Oneida says very little about the Super DD as I think it will cut into their other business if people find out how well it works with and existing dust collector.
