I picked up a Domino XL yesterday. I calibrated it (it was dead nuts on out of the box) and made some test cuts. I was surprised how easy it was to use. It handles much better than its size and weight would indicate. I've had the Domino 500 for several years and resisted buying the XL. The 10% off and a new large scale project convinced me to make the purchase. I also purchased the 12/14mm assortment kit. I'm going back today to get the 8/10mm assortment kit.

Yeah I was surprised too by the ergonomics and handling of the XL. I bought the 500 first as I mainly use smaller stock and sheet goods - the Domizilla tag put me off but it  really isn't that cumbersome. more of a big dog than godzilla

Yes, it is certainly an easy machine to use and does not deserve to have any nickname that indicates cumbersome or heavy - it is neither.

It certainly pays to get the 8-10 and 12-14 assortments with cutters.

A beautiful machine.

I love it. But I sort of fell in love with it early in 2012, and resisted buying one until this year.

Glad that you found a tool that you like. The DF700 XL is asset for any woodworker. In my case, it has already paid for itself and more. [smile]

I used both the 500 and the 700 Dominos today. I think I actually like the 700 better.

I did get the 8/10mm assortment to go with the 12/14 assortment. Had to build a new shelf to house the new gear.
