SYS Combi Questions

I have a centrotec installers kit on the way and I want to cut down on the number of systainers I'm hauling in and out of the work site. I also purchased two systainer attics from Toolnut that I'm hoping will allow me to carry even more in one systainer.

My question is this to start. On a SYS Combi 2 would it allow me to put the installer kit in the drawer, the CXS set in its holder on top and allow the systainer attic room to close. Is it simply a size 2 systainer with a drawer or actually a bit deeper on the top? The attic cuts down room and won't allow the lid to close on the standard systainer because of the charger even when the plastic tray is removed.

The top portion of  Sys Combi -II is the same interior size as a Sys - II.

The inside dimension of a Combi drawer is smaller in all three directions than a Sys - I. So the installer kit insert will not just fit into it.

As you mentioned the Attic lid takes away the lid depth inside a Systainer.

Thanks glad I asked before I ordered. Wondering what other folks do to keep their drills, bits and screws all together or do you just all haul separate systainers?

I use a Sys Combi II for my Milwaukee 18v hammerdrill and 1/4" hex impact driver and replaced the lid with the attic lid .  I keep the two drivers and four batteries in the upper part and use the drawer for my bit and drill sets.  I keep specialty drivers and parts and pieces for installing steel entrances in the attic.  I use another II that lives under the above mentioned for my 18v grinder, angle impact driver, and 3/8" inpact driver.

[member=64622]Atonwa[/member]  You might consider an old style Sortainer with the large drawer and put the installer set Sys on top of that. I don't know how tall the CXS charger is but maybe the CXS could go in the large drawer. Or maybe even in the new drawer without the insert? And put the installer set into the Sys-II top part and use an attic lid ?

There is probably a permutation that will work Especially if you don't use the drill systainer insert.

Old large drawer 85mm tall inside. New drawer 69mm tall inside.

Picture of my C12 in old style large drawer.

Sys-Combi 2 with replaced attic lid, will fit C18 and CXS, and a lot more drill bits and other stuff. No special mod is needed. Charger for CXS will not fit in lower drawer nor upper compartment with C18 insert in it, but I have not had experience where I can use up both batteries for CXS neither.

I moved my C18 insert into a combi with an attic lid, the drawer contains a T18 (that I use mainly as a drill), additional (one each) 5.2 and 2.6A batteries, syslite package (the lamp, charger, magnetic base, hanger) and one 60x120 insert box where I keep fastfix chucks and self centering drills and such. Had to cut off a bit off the drawer separator on one side to fit the T18 and have to take off the battery and the chuck to fit in, it rests with the drive shaft on the smaller battery in the back.

Whatever else I need (small stuff like screws and such) that fits into the new systainer drawers I have pre-packed in them and pop them into the SORT3 systainers under the C18 (two are always there, with another added if needed, with the whole stack on a sys roll to move it where I need it) on demand as the job needs them.

My OF1010 also lives in a combi, the drawer holding accessories for easy access. Next on my todo list is to join the RO90 with a drawer of abrasives into a combi, but I havn't come up with a good way of storing the many different grids (in both round and tri) so they don't mix and are easy to access in a drawer, yet. Most likely my PS420 will also transition into one at some point to get rid of the extra accessory systainer, but the drawer is a little low in depth to digest the bases and I don't use if that often so it isn't a high priority.

Long term plan is to move everything that came in SYS1 systainers into SORT/3 drawers to pack it as dense as possible (as my shop is small) while maintaining ease of access (or even improve it, compared to the original systainers, as with the drawers one can access their contents without disassembling the systainer stack). Still thinking about building a makeshift thermoforming contraption to create custom inserts for the drawers, ways to play tricks with cheap spray foam (the kind that is used to fix door frames and windows into place) or getting a flatbed router (but I sadly don't have the space for it) to mill lightweight foam or balsar - to stop the contents of the drawers that dosn't fit the insert boxes in an economic way (space wise) from moving out of place into a configuration that leads to the need to dig through it...

I keep a 18 volt Hitachi combo drill, an 18 volt impact screwdriver, decent size box of HSS bits, dividers, sliding bevel, junior hacksaw, Flat wood bit set, charger, set of snips, compound end cutters, 400mm combination square, chalk line/box, string line and a boat level in an attic lid Sys 2.
There's a bit more in there but I can't remember everything right now.
Its kind of cramped and I'm sure it would offend the crap out of the foam lined assassin case ob com people but its a good amount of the day to day tools thats not in/on my tool pouches.

Its heavy and the handles suffer more wear as a consequence but I don't have to cart masses of boxes about.
