Sys-Vari Pluck Foam

Just got one of these for my Panny impact driver.

Just a quick question. Is there a certain technique I should pay attention to when plucking the foam? When I look at this I feel like if I pluck the blocks within the shape of the tool it will give a loose fit since in some areas I need only a half of a block removed. Make sense?

Should I just use a razor blade regardless? Sorry for the dumb question.

I make it tight,loosens in time,drys out ,powders up,breaks eventually ,years down the road.behaves just like carseat foam
