Hi,
Just new on the forum since my festool addiction began a few months ago.  I am looking to put my router bits in a systainer, the sys1 is not tall enough to fit the larger router bits so I was thinking on buying a sys3 then the foam router bit insert part no. 469147,  does anyone know if this insert fits into the sys3 t loc or is there any other ideas on bit storage?

If this is in the wrong section please feel free to move it.

Thanks

not sure what size sys is best for you.
what percentage of bits are long .
if your like me then you probably only have 4-5 long bits. the rest are about 2" long

i would consider putting those long bits horizontally  and using the smaller sys

if youo have enough to warrent the sys 3 then i would put a section for the long ones and a two layer design for the shorter bits

If an insert fits a sys 1 it fits every systainer from 1 to 5. They all have the exact same footprint, only the height varies.

But part # 469147 is for the classic systainer. If you want to put your bits in a T-Loc you'll need a different insert, # 497695. Classic and T-Loc inserts are generally not compatible without modification.

EDIT: Alright, the part number I gave above is for the entire systainer with router bit inlay. I don't know the number for the inlay only. I can't find it. You might be able to fit the classic inlay into a T-Loc systainer by cutting it a bit here and there.

Thanks,
Yeah I think it's a good idea to lay the tall ones flat then the sys 2 would be perfect.

Thanks again

Thats what I did. Got a systainer 3 I also got 2 pieces of the foam. I stacked them in the systainer and could hold all my bits and still have room for another piece of foam for more bits.

Oh and welcome to FOG be afraid of the green addiction
