I got this crazy idea a short time back and we will see how the response will go. I use a Sys Cart to roll my tools to job sites, as I have a small truck and storing a Sys Roll is a bit more difficult. I thought it would be great if there were some way I could clip on a level or my guild rails to my systainers, so I came up with the following. They are going to be made available at Woodrave.com . These clips are 3D printed.

Cool idea!
I noticed that you have your guide rails hanging on the wall behind you or is that a garage overhead door?

Yes, that's taking advantage of the wasted garage door space. :)

do they lock the rails in place or are they open? I'd like to see a closer image of them if you have the time?

There are closer images at Woodrave.com They are open clips but there is no where for the Guild rails to go. Once dropped in place, they stay where they are.

Thanks again! It should all be working now.

Great idea - a few suggestions:

- I'd prefer a color other than White.  Partly due to the fact that it doesn't really look that great next to the Festool systainer base color but mostly because I could just see these start to look grimy over time from all of the handling.  If they were a Grey or a Black they would look better imo and stay that way for the longterm.

- The flat backs that slide into the Systainer's ID "slots" - if they were full-height, seems like there would be less movement of the smaller accessories.  For instance, as they are currently, seems like they could shift and rise a bit while inserting the levels and in general just feel a bit less custom than if they fit snugly into the slots with zero play.

- Your small box should be advertised as a cell phone holder - that's the perfect use for it.  Possibly make it a bit deeper.

- Re-design the small box with rounded bottom - grabbing screws from it would be a pain with the square profile it currently has.

- I'd prefer not to have my rails rubber strips exposed, my preference would be for the rails to be back to back.  Your clips could easily be designed to allow this.  A side benefit - it'd be a very professional look with the rails in all of their green strip/anodized aluminum Festool glory cleanly mounted to your stack of cases.

- Why not have the guide rail holder be one-piece straddle design spanning both ID slots at once?  If you've got to insert them from the top, there's no upside to having them seperate and that would give you more real estate on them to accept the (as mentioned below) clamp holders, pencil, tape holders, etc.

- Your small inserts to keep the level and the guide rails supported at the bottom: perhaps design a bit of a spring or angle to the legs so that they "clip" into place as opposed to simply dropping into place and possibly sliding left to right with any movement of the rolling cart.

- The level holders - might as well add a few pencil holes to each side as well as a tape measure bar to those as well.  Almost makes more sense than having them molded into the guide rail holders.

- On that note - what would be handy for the guide rail holders is a couple slots on either side that would securely hold the festool 6" clamps.

- Another idea: I could see some utility for a caulk gun holder (with tube of caulk inserted).  the slip-in holder could be elongated and "supported" with a built-in tab that supported it from the Systainer's side, and could be designed with a cove shape to accept a simple 10-12" length of PVC with an end cap to disallow any drippage issues.  You could sell it as a complete assembly, with the PVC tube and end cap already assembled.

Good luck with your venture.

Thanks for the input. Always welcome! The ideas are great. I can look at doing other colors. Most of the reason it would be difficult to do many of your other ideas is cost. The clip set for the level and guild rails take about 3 hours to print, each. If you get deeper for full height, it could easily put printing time up to 5 hours for each set. This would make print costs very high, and I am trying to keep those as low as possible.  I was looking at offering them through a company like shapeways, but just 1 piece of those in the sets were going to cost more than what I wanted to see a whole set sell for.  I don't have the money for creating injected molded parts which then this would be easier and more cost effective once Molds are made which cost 1000's of dollars. I am also limited on size and can't do a single clip across the face. I will look at doing a design for a caulk holder, which seems very doable and a great idea. I might do that as a kit rather than preassembled, as I try to also look at keeping shipping costs down. The smaller the usable parts, the smaller the shipping container, lower costs. But I will look at the option.  Most of my concerns are mainly due to my limits (machine etc.) rather than your good ideas. This project is a starting point, not an end. Thanks again for all your input!

Thanks [member=34574]anthonyz[/member] Just ordered the rail clips.  Could have used them a few weeks ago when I was simultaneously rolling my Syscart and a CT stacked with systainers up and down broken sidewalks all the while trying to keep two guide rails balanced on top.

Just a marketing suggestion -- though please disregard if it cuts too deeply into your profit -- why not offer a package deal for some of the additional items?  I probably wouldn't buy the cupholder or the small parts bin on their own.  But if either one were grouped together with the set of clips for a slight discount, I might be more inclined to get it.

Thanks, I will think about that. Right now I am getting things organized and trying to figure out the best way to streamline everything. Just packaged your clips and will go out tomorrow. Thanks!

ditto. Found this via a pinterest link

I just hit your site and I only see the hole template available.  Are you still sell in sys-clips?

Just reviving this thread,

Anthonyz, just wondering if you’re still making the syscart clips for the guiderails? I tried to purchase via the wood rave website but it says there’s a problem with the Paypal account.

He stopped selling the clips. He posted the 3d model files for making the clips to a site called Thingiverse. If you know somebody with a 3d printer they can take the files and print the clips. Alternatively you can use a 3d print service like Shapeways.
