Does anyone know when we will be able to purchase the T 18+3 Drill?

Thanks in advance.

Get ready guys.  Heard some verrrry interesting news about this launch yesterday from the head cheese.  I think most of you will be presently surprised about the way this tool and some of the other drills may be rolled out.

When will you be able to break the tension (news) as I'm anxiously awaiting the T18+3?

Never ;)  Until Shane officially posts something.  I don't want to get decapitated.

Sean is talking about something that I had eluded to in a recent post... There's a possibility that the T18 will be combined with the cordless Carvex in a single kit with shared charger and batteries. I don't have any details or information to share other than it's a consideration at this point.

To me one of the things that Festool is really missing out on here is that whole cordless package combo that all the other manufacturers have.

To be honest, when I started building our house I chose the Bosch combo pack because it had everything:

18 volts cordless:
  drill/driver(with impact)
  "skill" saw
  reciprocating saw
  flashlight

All of which took the same batteries. Then I got the Bosch 360 (or whatever they called it 4 years ago) and had a nice jobsite radio that also served as a battery charger, additional outlets for power, and it even had an module to integrate the ipod into a side enclosure. I could also run the boombox off battery if I just wanted to take it to the beach, etc. (like I've ever had time to do that since moving back here!).

The point is, the whole package was compelling, especially all based on the same battery system.

Would love to have that in a Festool package, especially with the boom box as a Systainer based system! (thinking of hacking one of those myself anyway). I'm even thinking about cutting the Bosch 360 apart that transplanting it into a systainer.

Too bad Bosch doesn't hole up. That status after four years of use:

- "Skill" saw was a piece of doo doo that had trouble cutting framing lumber (I think I fried the motor, it stops at unbelievable low levels of resistance now)

- Half the functions on the 360 quit working shortly after my one year warranty expired (CD tray, won't charge batteries, won't charge iPod)

- Flashlight - still use it to walk the dog in the dark hours and watch out for lurking coyotes (important safety note: Wife not happy when you forget to charge it and it goes dark on her 200 yards from the house!)

- sawzall - still working fine

- drill driver, still works, motor smells a big fried, heavy and cumbersome.

So Festool, you need to make a kit and add a few tools (and boombox!).

Maybe I should put this in the "I wish" thread...

So Shane you confess you "eluded" us in a previous message - you ran away from us! A Freudian slip no doubt for "alluded".  ;)

Hi all,
Maybe that offer could then include the comming version of the t-drills, having 3Ah batteries, built in battery indicator and diodelight.

Cheers,
Jacques.

Here is a picture of the 18V set Shane is talking about. It will be sold this Spring in Germany and other countries I hope.
In the picture below You can read what the set contains. Mainly T18, Carvex PSC 400-18, 2 batteries, 1 charger in a SYS 3 T-Loc.
The price is really very good only 720 euros excl. VAT (857 euros incl. VAT). That's only 1,016/1,210 USD.
A full T18+3 Plus set already costs 563 euros incl. VAT (795 USD). So for an extra 294 euros you can get the Carvex.

I can't speak German so I'm not 100% sure, but it looks like that package includes only the basic drill, not the 'set' version (ie the package with the jigsaw doesn't include the offset and angled chucks. Can you confirm this?

Ich möchte!

Besides, at my age, I could really use a new Splittershutz! [eek]

Allow me to translate, what we call the "Set" here is called the "Plus" in Europe.

I don't understand your translation. I think the SET is only sold in the USA and is also called the SET in Europe.
The SET has all the 4 chunks as showed below and the PLUS only 2 chunks (Centrotec bitholder and Fastfix 13 mm drill bit holder).
The PLUS and SET both come with the usual stuff like the battery loader TRC 3, a CE wood drill bit D4, a PZ 2 bit, 2 accupack 2.6 Ah S Li-ion and a SYSTAINER SYS 1 T-LOC.
