T-locs - Move classic insert or make custom insert?

I'm going to start moving my most-used Festools from their classic systainers to T-locs.  The question is how?

The classic insert can be modified and fitted into a like-sized T-loc.  Or a custom insert could be made for a larger T-loc to give better storage for accessories and consumables.   Which is the better approach?  What would you do?

Regards,

Dan.

Hi Dan,

I would modify the old insert and put it in a like size T-Loc.  I think going with a larger Systainer will mean having to use lift out trays or have  more of a jumble for added accessories. A seperate Systainer or Sortainer underneath will keep things more organised.

Dan, I've done the same with my most used tools and I've modified the classic inserts.  A few cuts with a utility knife and you're good to go, most of the time.  I have noticed there are some inserts that just can't make the switch.  For example, the RO125 won't fit in the same size (Sys2) T-Loc with the classic insert and things are slightly more crowded with the T15 in the new T-Loc.

Brice,

I'm thinking about making the switch too, starting with the one I use most which is my T15 set. I think the old one I have may be a Sys 2 (?) with the mini compartment on top for bits and such. Did you manage to stuff all of this into a Sys 1?

Also, were you able to find another solution for the RO125?

Thanks,

Tom

I have my T15 in Sys 2 T-Loc.  It all fits, it's just tighter than I'd prefer.  I think the solution for the RO125 is to get the new T-Loc insert as a spare part from Festool.  If I do that I'll post it here.

As the proprietor of systainerworld.com I still defer to Brice on this one!

For those that are switching over, how are you handling the labels / tool photos / interior top diagrams?

Neil, I've printed out my own labels on business cards, they fit in the T--Loc label slots with just a small amount of trimming along the length.
