Hi guys new to the owners group and this is my first post! Just wanting to know if any one owns or has used either of the following.

•Bosch GTS10XC 110V portable table saw?

•CMS-TS 55-Set for use with track saw

I am wanting to buy a table saw for a number of tasks such as ripping flooring boards when installing hardwood flooring, and lengths of hardwood stock ect when in the shop.

Only thing putting me of the CMS-TS 55-Set is the work rate it would put on my track saw and the setting up required every time.

Any input on either set up would be great thanks Michael

hi Michael

Today I spent a couple of hours in the workshop ripping American Walnut, mostly 2 inch but some 1 1/2 inch. I use the CMS-TS with a TS55R - absolutely brilliant and really accurate.

I was a bit tight on one of the boards and I knew that I could not put it through the planer after ripping and so I just took it nice and smoothly and only had to sand at 120 then 180 grit after using the Universal blade.

I got rid of my big table saw when I started my Festool life just over 2 years ago. The CMS-TS is used for ripping and rebate work. I use the guide rails and TS for sheet goods.

My recommendation to everyone is to keep a TS in the CMS and make the sacrifice to get a second TS for guide rail work. If you cannot afford the extra saw then accept that you can change the saw from being in the TS to being on a guide rail in about 2 minutes and vice versa. I timed it on one of my videos and showed it in a single shot against the clock.

So Michael, how many times do you need to change from track saw to CMS every day?

I would go for the dedicated festool table saw or Bosch or another TS to leave in. I wouldn't bother with the hassle of swapping your TS IN and OUT every time.

I'm getting another OF2200 sometime soon because I get fed up taking the OF2200 out the CMS especially when it's set up for a job and if I had a second OF2200 I could leave it set up.

I'm saying this even though I have adapted my OF2200 with a quick release!

If I was using festools method of fixing my Of2200 I recon I would of thrown the thing threw a window or bought a second Of2200 sooner.   Ummmmm maybe that's what festool want you to do!

I would get a TS75 and insert for that for use in a CMS (thats what I've done). I have a TS55R for use with a track.

What cliff said. I got a TS 55 I use for the track and MFT etc and a TS 75 that I keep in a module for the CMS.

My thinking is that if I ever need to cut something that Ill need a larger cutting depth like a exterior door I can use the 75.

The other good thing about the TS75 is its power - it seems to cut far more easily than the TS55R I used to use in the CMS. It is well worth the extra cost in my opinion and in the CMS is not significantly harder to manhandle. As Jobsworth says, you also have the ability to cut thicker timber. You can also adjust it work on the same guide rails as a second (TS55R) saw.

Another option to consider is the Mafell Erika series. Every bit as expensive as a stationary cabinet saw, but from everything I've read you get cabinet-saw quality cuts in a saw you can pick up and take to the job site. Just another option to consider...

Holy cow that's a pretty tall piece of timber that he passed through the Erika in the end of the video

The Erika 70, according to the dealer, costs around $4000...the 85 probably closer to $5000...that's a large hit for a portable TS...especially when you see our very own Builderbob making gorgeous cabinets with his little DeWalt at 1/10th the cost.  This doesn't mean that it won't end up being my fourth Mafell tool.

Just because I have the Dewalt doesn't mean I don't covet the CMS or the Erika!  Haha

Thx Jim!

Thanks for the input guys I love the idea of the cms setup with the ts75! Planning to see what my local dealer can do for a cash sale!

Just a note:  There were several duplicate threads started here on the same subject and whereas this thread had the most responses the other threads have been deleted just to keep the  information in one place.

I have the Bosch saw it manages ok. In my shop is a powermatic 66  and a Laguna ts that's about 1000lbs it is the go to saw.
Onsite the Bosch is better than a 1960s craftsman but it won't be around nearly as long .
For the work that I do neither track saw or table saw can cover my needs onsite.
They almost always come together .
If the Erika is the same quality as the kss400/pcc1 jigsaw/ and the other Mafell  tools I have.
It is soon to be reviewed by me on site . Saving Benjamin's already.

I have the Bosch 4100 with gravity rise stand. I love the stand for its portability and the only negative comment on the saw is its dust collection which is terrible. I enclosed the bottom of the saw and added a dust port which improved the dust collection. I also have the TS55REQ which i use for mostly breaking down sheet goods and love the quality of cuts and dust collection right out the box. I wish i would have bought the Festool much sooner than i did.
