TDK 15.6

Hi guys,

Got the chance to pick up a lightly used TDK 15.6 drill last night for what I think was a pretty good price...being a hobbyist I can't justify biting the big bullet on a new T15+3 but this seemed a pretty good compromise. Am really looking forward to getting to play with it.

Down side is it came with only a centrotec chuck and no bits, so I need to make an order to start the collection. Any advise on a good starter kit?

Mac, I was in the same position as you. Got me this new drill but no Centrotec stuff to put in it. So I started to look around what's available and where it's available.

I made this list for my own convenience but now that you ask for a list I might as well share it here for quick and easy reference. The prices are in euros but I thought I'd let them in for reference. You can copy and paste it to a text file on your desktop and replace the euro for UK prices.

I am in the lucky position of having Protool also here so that gives us a couple of extra choices that are preferable over Festool's choices. I don't know if you have Protool in the UK too. It is possible to order Protool from the mainland though.

I put the most basic necessities on top.

The Bits In-SYS Bits + BHS 65 CE 19x by Protool is great value over buying the BHS 65 separately since it comes with a lot of bits and a nice tray that will fit in a compartment of the Sys 2 Attic model. The Protool wood drills are also better value than those of Festool because they come, again, with a nice tray while Festool's comes in a flimsy box, and they have the 10mm drill instead of the 3mm drill in Festool. All you have to buy now is the 3mm drill separately, which is a lot cheaper than the 10mm drill.

And then there's the 5 piece stone drill set, which Festool unfortunately doesn't even sell.

Oh and before I forget: I heavily prefer Wera diamond bits over those by Festool. I don't like Festool's bits at all, they slip constantly.

I did buy all of my Centrotec parts in the UK.
Anglia Tool Center is the cheapest but they do not have all the parts and Miles Tool & Machinery Centre do have them all.
The price difference is up to 50% and the shipping costst vary between euro 6-20.
