That hole behind the SYSPORT 1000?

I was looking at my SYSPORT 1000 and noticed a hole in the back about 6 inches from the top (15cm for those following in metric countries ).

Is that to secure it against the wall? I am thinking so although I haven't tried yet.

Hummmm, well it could be for a number of things. Send it over & I will investigate for you  ;D

Dan,

The hole is there to give you access to the rod in the back of the Sysport.

The rod locks the drawers. In rare cases the rod can jam with the drawers closed. In that case you don't
have access to the rod from the front. You can stick something like a screwdriver through the hole in the back
and push against the rod, thus unjamming it.

I hope that makes sense. Don't have my "technical proof reader" with me.

Christian, you beat me to the answer.  About a year ago, I had a problem with a jamb and had to use the hole for exactly that purpose.

I plan to somehow secure this SYSPORT to the wall in my shop and will find another way. It shouldn't be too difficult

Honest, I live in a white collar neighbourhood with a low crime rate but it only takes one person to break into the shop and I'd  be pretty disappointed

I just took out the trays and used self tapping screws to attach mine inside my trailer.  Had to just put screw where the studs (metal of course) were in the walls.  It won't hurt it to poke a few holes in the back.  Just use a nice sized flat washer on your screw.

Not trying to get off topic here but we have crime. I can't say how much crime compared to the US but in the Greater Vancouver area most of our crime is centered around the drug trade and various gangs. They tend to keep the fighting and crime within their circles.

My biggest issue is tenant's and their friends. My wife wants tenants and I don't. Having them makes my tools a write off for work around the suites. I leave my tools locked up for the most part but the SYSPORT would be easy to walk off with so I need to find a way to secure it when I leave the shop.

I have never had a problem with anybody messing with my stuff but it only takes once and I'll be pretty upset

I was also under the impression that the hole in the rear was to secure the Sysport.  Now, since we have learned that the rod may need to be accessed if we get in a jam, wouldn't it be a bit of a problem to now secure the Sysport in a way in which that rear hole is no longer accessable?

Dewalt makes something I thought was interesting, it is called a Mobil Lock. Here is a link.       http://www.dewalt.com/us/security/        It is pricey, and a monthly fee on top of that, but I think there would be a demand for it. I think a contractor who leaves his equipment on site would like this.
