THE CHRISTMAS GIFT

Our cats have been our only children.

Our children have come along as strays and shared thier lives with us for the past three decades. Most have passed on as young tots and teenagers. We now we have a few that have reached a senior citizen age and need help to climb up and reach our laps as we sit and our sides as we sleep. Out of love for our children, I have built a simple step stool for the cats. On the steps are the images of all of our cats, eleven in all that we have had since 1980.

My Festools have been my partners in my journey to honor the joys our cats have given us over the years.

Luckily we had taken some decent photos of each of the cats over the past thirty years. Each step has three cat heads that were burnt into the pine. Each side has a full body of a cat.

The project was made from reclaim pine, from a shelf unit that was built 20 years ago.

The tools used were:

- TS-55 Track Saw
- Kapex
- T18 Drill
- OF1400 Router
- Domino
- ETS 150/5 Sander

The track saw was used to rip the boards to width and cross cut the side pieces.

The Kapex was used to cross cut the steps and the braces.

The T18 was used to drill the half and quarter circles.

The OF1400 Router was used for round over and cove cuts on the sides and steps.

The Domino was used to make the loose tenons that held the two piece side boards together the to attach the steps to the sides.

The ETS 150/5 was used for pre and posts finish sanding.

The photos document the journey of the tools that brought us the treasure.

Nice project. From what i can see it looks like you have a great shop. Nice and organized. Love to see more.

wow, that is some colection of clamps.
love the miter saw station.
i two would love to see the rest of that shop.

lovely bit of pyrography there

Thats what you call a set of clamps, clean shop to, I take it that is your living for that many cl [blink]amps

Thanks for comments. Yes this proves you can have too many clamps. I think there are about 500 overall. I don't work for Bessey or have any affiliation, but the clamps were featured in the January 2012 newsletter by Bessey (RE: Wall of Bessey's).

I only used a few clamps on this project. Not a good time to feature the shop because all of the tools a pushed to one end of the shop as I am building base cabinets (below the miter saw station and some over head cabinets. The miter station is my current project.
