6 months ago I was perfectly happy with my second-hand chop saw and table saw.
2 months ago I saw my first Festool at the local Woodcraft store.
3 weeks ago I bought my first Festool, a MFT/3.
1 week ago I made a phone call to Bob Marino.
Today these showed up.

I'm guessing you make good money woodworking and those tools have more than paid for themselves, but as a guy who doesn't make any money on woodworking it hurts just thinking about how much all that cost.

I have a problem!!  [laughing]

Why is it a problem?

It's just a passion ... only a problem if it causes you or others harm! [wink]

EJ, I'm right there with you buddy...  [big grin]

Back in late July, I read a thread on Garage Journal about a remodel a member was doing to his home in Portland, OR.  Seeing all the things he built, I wanted to learn and do the same because I'm buying another house soon and I wanted to develop my skills so that I can buy a house with more character than the usual cookie cut houses here in SoCal.

Fast forward, early August I ended up with a Makita Track Saw (hold your tomatoes), then I got a Festool MFT/3, and yesterday this showed up from Bob Marino as well...

Festool CT26, OF1400 Router, ETS 150/3 sander.  The kicker is I don't have anything on the horizon I want to build yet.  LOL.  And 3 months ago, I made my first cut on wood with a power tool.  Not joking.  [big grin]

I feel you EJ...we're going down the same path together.  Except you're married, and I'm not.  [big grin]  I don't have an accountant watching my back...lol

Nothing is happening to you EJ that is bad! And calling Bob is ALWAYS good!!!! My first was at Christ as last year when my fiancé bought me the TS55REQ. I made ANOTHER request from my man Bob tonight!!!!

so funny cause my first 3 purchase was the mft3 ts55 ct26...2 months later this is my family portrait :)

GOT8SPD, we are going down the same road.  My wife is actually almost as excited as I am.  Of course, she's excited about making our home beautiful, where I'm excited about making stuff with great tools.  If I were single like you I'm afraid of what I'd be spending on tools.  [scared]

I spent a couple hours last night getting my MFT calibrated and squared up.  I made a few test cuts with the new saw, attached a metric rule to the back fence and made a calibration block like Half-Inch shy described in his Youtube videos.  (thanks for that!)

Keep me updated on your projects.  We'll have to compare notes as we learn.  Just try not to spend the rent money on new toys.  [cool]

This weekend I'll be installing some baseboard and window casings.
