This just makes me so sad and angry ... [sad] [crying] [mad]

I HATE it when people that really don't appreciate something enter a competition and win it.

Yet another Festool Oz FAIL They're getting extremely good at making the wrong decisions/choices/etc.

Even more annoying is he wants to maximise the $'s ... anyone with a real heart would donate it to a charity workshop. I certainly would. There's a lot of kind people that donate their time to make toys, etc for children, that could really benefit from some quality tools.

Grrr!!! Hope all of his out of warranty tools fail expensively ...

Kev

I understand your frustration , but sometimes life isn't fair.

Winning something then selling it.

But ya never know, he may already own one.

I don't apply for something like a give away if I already have one.
Others do thinking they probably won't win anyway and win they do win wonder what they are going to do with it.
So in this case the guy probably thought I already got one but if I sell it I can get me a ......

Don't sugar coat it [member=13058]Kev[/member] , tell how you really feel.  [big grin]

Apparently according to Festool Aus web site the chaps wife entered him into the  Competition without him knowing.
lucky man I wish my wife would enter me into Festool competitions, I might actually win something as she has a lot more luck with competitions than I do.
The article also says that the winner owns his own building maintenance company and is a great lover of Festool, so I would have thought that the Vecturo would come in really handy!

I don't see how it's got anything to do with Festool Australia. I assume they'd have judged the entries on their merit. It would be quite surprising if the winner's entry mentioned their plans to immediately flog off any winnings.

There's a Ltd edition cxs on eBay UK and he wants £1000 .[censored]

Dave,

We have a saying in the states, hold out your hands, put on your hopes and dreams in one and all the mess ( expletive) in the other and see which fills up first....

[size=13pt]Well Kev, although it is disappointing, I agree with others here such as Ben; it is his business and nothing really to do with Festool Aust.

And yes, any number of regular Aussie Foggers would have made better use of it!
Eg. [size=24pt]ME!  [big grin]

Companies run competitions to generate noise about their company and products. They are usually commercial activities.  I doubt they really care what happens once the prize has been handed over to the winner.  If  my wife entered a competition for me and I won a new Vecturo I would probably sell it as my Fein Multimaster works well on the odd occasion I need it.  If I really wanted a Vecturo I'd give my Fein away.

I don't understand why you are so mad
Why is it so bad to try to make some cash for something you might not need?
Maybe he needs money to pay for other things?

You must be sad if you spend your spare time scouring ebay for tools, lighten up old man and enjoy your latter years instead of being angry at everything.

You don't have to be this arrogant and rude to make your point!  [eek]

Same here. However, sometimes you have to wonder if expressing your opinion is really that necessary.

You might have money to burn on tools you don't use, for other people it's just capital that can be used better elsewhere.

That tool is his now and he can do whatever he wants with it, and I think you cross a line by naming and shaming him here on the forum because it is none of your business.

Normally I am very much against any form of censorship, but I think this thread should be deleted because it is a gross invasion of a person's privacy who has no relation to this forum, has done nothing wrong, and is hung out here to dry.

The emotion may have been more of disgust than anger.

If the world were a just place, then the tool would have gone to someone who needed it.

Maybe he already has one...or he could use the cash for something else...or he doesn't want it.  Who knows?  Is it my business?

Festool wrote this off as a marketing expense.  Why care?  Festool is a business that sells nice products.  This is just one tool of thousands coming off an assembly line.

Guys, chill.  At the end of the day we are all just people who come here to talk tools or woodworking or...

No need to go after each other here or others outside the forum for an eBay ad or a Clraigslist ad.  Doing so will accomplish nothing positive and as history has shown, could only do the opposite.

He owns it, that means in a free country he's entitled to sell it.
Simple as that. Can't see the problem.

No doubt if I won a boat I'd likely have a bit of a bash in it then flog it on.
