Here are 2 different versions of one of my chairs.  It was fun to be working on these at the same time.

Walnut, curly maple and teak oil:

The chair below will be on display at an airport.  The image on the seatback is the taxi chart used to navigate around the airport.
Alder and walnut:

Here's a visual list of the tools used:

I like both; the distressed look is not kitsch and the other chair with Walnut and Maple has a nice contrast of wood color and tone.

Really like the curly maple 9ne. How did you do the legs? Is it three pieces joined with dominoes?

untidy shop- thanks.  I agree, you have to be careful with the "distressed" look.

Edward- thanks.  You are correct, 3 pieces joined with dominoes.  I used 2, 10x50 dominoes at each joint.  I've also been moving away from my Kapex and using my tablesaw more for the miter cuts.  I find I get cleaner miters on the tablesaw.

Wow, those are sweet! I wouldn't mind having a few of them in my own house.

The map idea is neat. How is it done, CNC?

Shane- Yes, the image was done with my CNC.  The CNC is one of the few tools in my shop that wasn't purchased at Toolnut. Lol

Nicely done. Any chance of you having plans that you can pass out?
Thanks.  No plans.  As usual, I drew the original idea directly onto a piece of MDF and then cut my templates.  I use different sizes of paint cans as guides to form the curves.

This week's chair.  New idea.  Trying to come up with a modern dining room type chair to add to the portfolio.  Since all my chairs have square-shaped seat bottoms, I also wanted to try incorporating a rounded seat shape into the design.  "KCRQ" is the identifier for our local airport.  Fun project.
