Disclaimer: I really do not like doing tile. The little inconsistency of tile bother me   :-\

This is a finished basement I am doing. The homeowner picked out the tile and pattern. Its nice but not my cup of tea. Monday I will grout it if I am not on 1 of 2 other jobs  [laughing]

Have fun grouting!  It is by FAR my least favorite part about doing tile work.

If should go fast on those glossy ceramic tiles though.

Prefer trim any day.  Not crazy about grouting either[sad] This is probably better than the laminate flooring on her concrete floor I start in a week or two. [crying] [laughing]

I know what you mean.  I prefer finish carpentry and always sub out any tile work.

Looks like your layout worked out perfectly.  Nice job!

[thumbs up]

Really nice, Jamie!  I don't remember ever seeing anyone do ceramic tiles in that pattern, wood, yes.

May I make a suggestion?  Got to give credit - I learned this from Michael Byrne.  After you've grouted and let the grout set up (you'll have to figure that part out), with a LIGHTLY damp wrung out sponge, wipe across the tiles gently and in one direction, NOT back and forth.  That's how you'll get rid of the haze faster.  Clean the sponge off frequently in 2 different 5 gal. buckets of water.  If you're careful doing it the first time (what may seem tedious), you won't have to repeat this multiple times to remove the hazing.

...not that you'll enjoy grouting, but maybe that'll make it less hateful.

Thanks! I did sub out the whole shower and tile. The guy kept saying he would give me a price and never did.  [mad] Had to get it done so I said F' it and did it. I have done many tile jobs but now prefer not to if I can get away with it. If the guy showed up and did the tile I would be finished my contract or close to it.  [mad]
