So, for the last few years I've been using the stanley wheeled tool chest's, I've been through 4 of them over the last 2 years. There not built to last but served a purpose. Since destroying my most recent one this week, I'm in the market for a new box, I did consider making a wooden tool box, but feel this will be hard to move around on site,
So I'm looking at the dewalt tough system tool boxes, I know there expensive with the trolley, does anyone have any experience working with them ?

Yep I've a load of them (incidentally that I'm selling as I no longer use them). If your are working on site they are bomb proof. Very rugged and well made. Good for standing on. Get the trolley too. Worth the money if you need that level of strength. Nothing like the Stanley rolling tool chests, it's like comparing Stallone to Julian Clary!

thanks for that, I've ordered a set with the trolley, £240 yikes, I'm sure it'll be worth it  [big grin]

Definitely. The trolley alone is good. I've lifted +100kg with mine, using it as a sack barrow. Enjoy!

so I've owned the dewalt tuff system for 3 weeks now, was it worth the money?

The tool boxes themselves are bomb proof, the top handles carry the weight of a loaded tool box with ease. the side handles not quite so good, I've snapped one off already :-(, the clips that connect the boxes together are a waste of time, they arnt strong enough to carry a loaded box beneath.

The trolley is a good design, plenty strong enough, the system that locks the boxes onto the trolley is an interesting design, but could easlily be bent away with a strong screw driver, the trolley is also too wide, I understand the reason of having the wheels outboard of the boxes to aid stability, but it makes it to wide to go through a door less that 30".

All in all its a good system, but if I was to buy it again I'd buy the boxes separately and get a folding trolley instead
