RE: Tool Town Demo Day Feb 27
Another GREAT day at ToolTown. It was good to finally see their new digs first hand. Good to see Ken, Steve and Daniel, (AKA The Hammer) again. I also met two (new to me) staff members. Their new store has a great selection of everything you can think of. According to Steve, the store is still a work in progress with new shelving and displays in the works and coming soon.
Daniel, (AKA The Hammer) put on an excellent demo as usual. I always learn something new and useful when I go up there. I learned three interesting bits of info that I figured I would pass on.
1st) While Daniel, AKA The Hammer was doing his demo of the new VAC-SYS (that their Festool rep brought for the day) I learned that the foot peddle is only for disengaging the work piece. To start the suction, you simply place your work piece on the clamping unit and when it contacts the wee green nib in the centre, the suction starts automatically. I think that feature will be a real time saver.
2nd) I learned from their Festool rep that there will be a new Festool catalog coming out in (I forget. I have a good memory, but it is short) either March or April with, you guessed it, new increased prices.
3rd) And, this is a biggie (in my opinion). Their Festool rep announced yesterday, for the first time, that the new line of SYSTAINER SYS-Combi will hit our shores on the first of June. And, that ToolTime is starting to take pre-orders for them tomorrow (M/02-29-’16). This being just announced NEW news, the SYSTAINER SYS-Combi line is not on ToolTown’s web-site yet, so you will have to phone in your pre-orders. (ToolTown: 201-262-6337 or 800-516-8665)
Well, that’s what I learned yesterday. I hope it is also interesting to some of you.
