Veritas Wonder Dog vs UJK Part Repeat Stop

I do alot of thin rips using my MFT table with the FIXED flip up track. It always comes to a jury-rigged method of of getting the stock that is NARROWER THAN THE FESTOOL TRACK, to be aligned for repeat rips.

Has anyone used either of these stops? You could supposedly set the stops, and then just butt your stock up against it. With the Veritas model, I thick the stock would have to be taller than the screw or end piece diameter.

[member=62093]Intex[/member] I guess the answer is "it depends." My guide rail isn't lined up to a row of dog holes. I suppose if you moved the guide rail over to maximize the use of the TSO stop the smallest width you could cut would be about 80mm using the speed knobs to tighten down the TSO dog stop. That's because the knob hits the guide rail. The TSO stop itself is 13mm thick as well, something to consider if you wanted to do thinner material. If you were doing any material thicker than 13mm (thickness of the TSO stop) what you could maybe do if you wanted a really thin rip is use a bolt and washer in place of the knob(s) to lock down the dog which would have to be placed under the guide rail. I hope this makes sense. I.E. if you were cutting 18mm material, the guide rail would rest on the 18mm material and you could slide the TSO dog stop under the rail, and lock it in place assuming you had a fastener either with or without a built in washer that is less than 5mm in thickness.

They both look like great alternatives. The precision fence has the advantage of being only 1/4": thick, but you still have the problem of the knob hitting the festool rail. Woodwork Tech: Have you used these? if so, how narrow of a board will it stop at?

Dynaglide, what are the dimensions of the TDS Gog Stop? They do not list it on theri website ??  The Precision fence is 10" x 3"

Here is what I use - a stop collar on some rails dogs set to the thickness of stock you are ripping. Allows for unlimited thickness (up to your rail dog length) and any width (piece is secured under rail. I use the TSO stops for perfect repeatable cuts. Would like longer TSO stops for more flexibility.

I really wanted to buy the TSO stops, but they weren't long enough for my needs. I contacted the company about a 14" version and they said they've never had a request for a longer product. I gave them a link to this thread.

I purchased a Precicion Dogs set and they work well under the guide rail and do a very good job on thin stock. My only reservation is that, at a 1/4" in height, their usefulness diminishes as the height of the stock increases.

A product that married the TSO's 1/2" height with the the PD's ability to secure the stop from under the table would be a winner in my book.

Hey Hans, I sent you a email but thought I post my idea here. First FYI I went on site to build a custom built in cabinet for someone. I brought a MFT and the STM plus you GRS and PGs (all 3 lengths) I must say that Using the STM with the GRS was like words and music.

They are very compatable with each other and the cabinet I built was dead nuts square.

For those reading this I highly suggest making a work table for the STM like shown in the Festool Live episode on the STM . It would have been very useful and made my life a lot easier.

I have one but didnt bring it. Next time i definately will.

Anyway Hans what I suggest is on the scales of the PGs if you would add tick marks at 32mm for the LR32 that would be great.

BTW using the GRS with the PG was one of the first times I didnt have to adj my the length of my cab being hair to long for the LR 32. It was dead nuts on to.
A perfectly balanced side.
But the markings would make my life even easier.

Those might be a little tall for thin rips, depending on the material thickness.  I use my shop made sliding stops I cut on my Shaper Origin.  Just route a slot in the center and attach a low profile dog with a knob.  I've made these in a variety of materials I use with different thickness, so for thin rips the guide rail sits on the stop .. otherwise, I just use some scrap of the same thickness to support the guide rail.  I have this file on the Shaper Hub for anyone to use.  Just an idea .. works good for me.
