I have two topics I'd like to vote for as the most useful MFT topics (creative?  probably, by I care more about useful):

One is MarkF's "MFT Guide Rail Catch" (guide rail catch) just what I need to keep the guide rail out of the way (when it's not in use) in my very, very small shop.

The other is Bill Esposito's DIY MFT Hold Down Clamps (hold down clamp) which let you clamp to the MFT without crawling under the table.

Tom,
Thanks for the vote!  Yes, by "creative" I mean all things positive -- useful, innovative, inspiring.
Stay in touch,
Matthew

Thanks Tom

I gotta admit that I think my clamp is pretty cool and I've all but stopped using the Jorgies in favor of it.  Having said that, the motivation for creating it and writing it up, as with all my reviews and such, is that I get a real kick out of sharing my work with others.

That and I wouldn't mind another sander :)

Everyone,
Due to lack of interest, I'm closing this competition.

It seemed like a good idea, and I'm rather surprised by the response.

In order to learn from this, and have more successful contests in the future, I would like to hear members' responses.

Thank you,
Matthew

Matt,

Wow, that's too bad. I completely forgot about it.
I would have liked to have had a chance to win a sander! :)
Although I already have and love the RS400.
Thanks for trying, maybe if it were a simple poll where people just click on a icon at the bottom of the post that said "vote for this post" - but I don't know how you would track who voted and how many times.
I can assure you, I would vote no more than 3 times for myself. ;)

Thanks,
Pete

Pete,
Thanks for your response.  We may revive this concept again at some point, but I would like to develop a better way of doing it.

The thing is, my intent was to get people going back into the forum history and giving added life to valuable posts that get covered up over time.  To achieve that goal, I need to have members going back and finding things themselves.  Having a simple poll would mean that members were not going back and looking at those old but valuable discussions.  The other thing is, I don't want to be the one who suggests candidates for the contest.  I want members to decide who the contestants are.  If I created a poll, it would mean I was making choices.

Well, as you can see, I do want this to happen, but the concept needs tweaking.

I welcome ideas from members!

Matthew
