Since Festool does not offer square drive bits, who offers quality torx drive screws for cabinet work?

Thanks

Great fasteners, they have their own torx drive bits that work well.

All Festool bits work well with GRK as well. Great selection of screws everything from structural framing to finish and cabinet work.

1600, 10x3 SS 316 Torx heads driven into my cumaru decking. Only used the original bit, way better then square drive!!!!!

+1 on the GRK. I have used others that were good too. But GRK have been the best I have used. Complete line. Lots of sizes in the R4. Which is an all purpose wood screw.

i want to try the heco srews. JMB and I were talking about them the other week and they self drill in 2mm steel and will tap into concrete aswell, looks like a a good allround screw

I use (almost) only the Heco Unix and Topix screws and I'm very happy with them. At least as good as the Spax-Screws but cheaper.

If you want some samples I can put some Hecos in a envelope an mail them to you.

Regards

I mostly use Heco too, very good screws. I'm not sure about what you said about steel and concrete there though. I never noticed they could do that.

The HD deck screws are torx, much cheaper than GRK and plenty strong for cabinet construction.  For hanging cabinets I prefer a truss head or use a washer with a deck screw depending on visability.  The tan and redwood coatings blend in pretty well using 1 5/8" screws to attach boxes together at the face frame.  Just make sure you predrill as the #9 screw will split hardwood.

I love the GRK's, you could hang a boat with some R4's

taken from the heco site, be interesting to try that type out

"HECO-FIX-plus - The smart, patented multi-material screw

The newly reworked version of the HECO-FIX-plus multi- material screw is ideal for use in all natural and industrial wood-based materials, as well as in masonry, plastic and metal sheets up to 2 mm. A comprehensive product range offers the ideal screw for any application.

The HECO-FIX-plus screw has our patented toothed thread at its point. An extra antifriction coating means minimum driving torque. Ideal for transmission of high tensile loads. It is also possible to undo the screw safely and smoothly at all times. Suitable for screwing through thin metal sheets up to 2 mm thick (e.g. sandwich elements)."

Interesting indeed, I got some here, I'll try it out.

Good Evening

We like the Torx drive system very much and do stock two brands of Torx drive screws;

Paslode PROSCREWS - In sizes from 3 x 20mm to 6 x 200mm

Friulsider VBU-PRO Screws - In sizes 3 x 16mm? to 6 x 150mm and a range in stainless also. Actually I need to check the size range and let you know.

Both brands are popular over the trade counter here but if any members would like trial packs then please PM me with your address and I'll get some sent out (UK only). Constructive observations would be very welcome.

Best regards

Warren

How do the GRK's compare to the Spax in quality, and ease of use, wise?? I just got a bunch of the Spax from McFeely's  [sad]

Thanks!
