Im buying the TS55, is there any advantage of buying the 118" over the 106" guide for cutting 4X8 sheets?
thanks  [smile]

If you never need to cut at an angle along the sheet then the FS 2700/2 is long enough, if you have a big enough area to swing the 3000 and you may cut on angles or oversized sheets then it's the better choice and for a little over $20 get it.

If it's too long you can always cut it short  later.

Because the 106" only has 5" overhang each end you have to position it carefully, because the 118" has plenty of overhang you don't need to be as accurate positioning it so it's quicker to use.

If you plan on using the Festool parallels guides you'll need the FS3000

If cost and storage are not an issue, definitely go for the 3000 over the 2700, for all the reasons people have said so far.  An additional one -- if you ever get a TS75, the overhang on the 2700 is IMHO insufficient for comfortably accurate cuts at the front and/or back end of the saw, since the TS75 needs more lead in to avoid the rail tightening knobs coming off the track.

I find the 3000 to be a very comfortable size for ripping 2400mm sheets. It's painful having to carefully position the rail for length when your rail is too short. I wish the standard rail was 1500+

I have only had my set up for a couple months, so take my advice with that in mind, but I would say go with the 3000.  As the others have said, the 2700 will work on 4x8 straight cut, but any angles will make it too short.
In my case I went with the 2700, mainly because I did not do my homework.  I was unaware of the 3000 and more importanly I did not consider the parallel guides and their need of that extra length.  Now, as I prepare to purchase the guides, I have to either sell the 2700 rail or buy both.
Quite simply put, the 3000 will do everything the 2700 will do, but that doesn't work in reverse.
