While looking to replace a bad set of roller stands, I ran across Triton's new Multi-Stand.  These offerings are surely worthy a better review than I can provide now, so please check out their website.

These stands are going to find many uses around the shop, and today I have taken some pictures that illustrate how well these stands work for a portable cutting table.

First, here are the twins...

Here is the support frame for my cutting table.  You don't have to go this far, as simply clamping a 40" - 2"x4" in each stand does work rather well.

Now loosen the clamps and tip her up...

Here is the complete setup ready for some sheet goods.  Note 1/2" ply under the foam.

With these stands, the resulting cutting table is a real back saver!!!  Next, I plan to add casters to the mix and have an instant sheet-goods mover -- Sweet!  And, they will find many other uses.  At $60 each, they are not the cheapest support stands -- but I think you might just find them worth every penny.

Corwin,
Thanks for sharing details of this, and as often happens in this forum -- you had perfect timing!  I've been struggling to figure out a way to create a cutting/gluing/working table that can be easily folded up and moved out of the way to save space in my small shop.  This sounds like a great solution.  $60 each is not cheap, but for the cost of about $150 total, I can build a table, which isn't so bad.

Hey, what's that gold fence on your MFT?

Nice table idea BTW. I need just such a compactable thing for my garage...

Well, thanks for the price update -- now I'll have an additional set, soon!

That gold fence is Incra's Incremental Track.  Been too busy for much around the shop lately, but here's a photo of what is currently setup in the shop today...

The MFT's fence with the Incra Track attached (front fence in photo) is usually used for temporary setups.  This table setup had previously been reconfigured from a larger 3 table arrangement and the rear fence in the above photo had been installed in a temporary fashion -- normally this would have been bolted down, as this is usually where I place my main fence.

Do you need the plywood under the foam or is the 40" wide wooden frame enough support for the foam?

The frame would be supportive enough.  But, using the plywood allows one to clamp the Guide Rail when needed -- without, the screw clamps would mess up the foam.

Triton have often made some innovative stuff. Unfortunately all the gear of theirs I've had seems to rust as you watch it [sad]

I rather like the functionality of the Rockwell RK9034 JawStand.  It seems to have a few additional capabilities, like the crank-up center section.  I haven't used one, but it appears to be a bit better AND a bunch of less spendy.

Looks cool. Unfortunatley, i have the hardest time findinf Triton stuff anywhere, except the routers.

Well, you must keep in mind that I started this thread seven years ago, and much has changed for Triton (and me) during that time.  I suggest you look at the Rockwell stands if you want something like this.  Years back, Rockwell made identical copies of some of the Triton products, and I see by Sparktrician's post that they still manufacture the stands with some minor updates.

Doh! [eek] I didn't even notice the thread start day, hah! I did read somewhere that Kreg was now the North American distributor for Triton, so maybe things will get better, but the Internet is still woefully lacking in regards to Triton stuff.
