Trying to find value of a Festool set

Hello all,

Due to a death in the family I'm responsible for selling a Festool set that I know absolutely nothing about.  I was hoping to get a little guidance on an asking price.  Everything was originally purchased and owned by a single owner hobbyist, and I know he babied his tools, so I'm sure they are in very good condition.

RO 125 FEQ - Plus
PS 300 EQ - Plus
DTS 400 EQ - Plus
TS 55 EQ - Plus
A couple guide rails - I didn't measure them but they looked roughly 5 ft each.

Sorry to hear of your loss.  Selling used tools is tough enough when sold by the person with the knowledge of their history.

In order to help establish value, it would be helpful if you knew the purchase date, to help determine any remaining warranty.  It would also be helpful if you identified what type systainer (classic or t-loc) the tools are in (more important to some than others).

You might consider contacting [member=57769]TylerC[/member]  and see if he can help you get some of the history, based on the registration (assuming they were registered, which is very likely).  He may be limited by Festool policy regarding the release of this information for anyone other than the original purchaser. 

Of course, you might want to consider getting into woodworking yourself, as it appears you would have the making of a nice start with what is available.

Festools hold their resale value very well.
Search the names on e-bay, then go to "advanced" to the right of search button, and select Sold Listings. This will give you a good idea of their current market value, depending on condition, of course.

Thanks all.  The tools were my dads, and still at his house, so it might be a couple months before I go back there.  If I had inherited any of his woodworking skills, or even had the space, I would love to keep them. 

I did take pictures of the model stickers and it looks like the serial numbers are on them as well.  I have no idea if he registered them but I will check.  Thanks for the suggestion.

I had checked current sales (and came up empty) but had forgotten you can check previous sales listings on eBay.  Thanks for reminding me!

We did get an offer from a contractor, that is aware of the situation, for $1500 so I'm trying to get an idea if that is reasonable or not.

Some of these tools are older models, so I'd say the $1500 is probably a good price.  If these tools are like new you could probably sell them off one at a time for a better price, but with much more effort.

I agree with Brice. The 1500 is a fair offer for the model of tools you have listed.

I think I will take the offer then. I not looking to get every last penny, I just wanted to make sure it was reasonable.
