TS 75 - blade,power or something else

I have used the original blade that came with my TS 75 saw  to build 3 or 4 pieces of furniture and approximately 12 wall cabinets. I am currently building a platform bed using some 2 inch thick cherry .  While ripping this for this project, the saw seemed to struggle .  It sounded like their wasn't enough power to make these cuts.  it did cut it finally but it threw the breaker on the circuit. My question is this -  should I be using a different blade or is it because this original blade is now too dull?  Is the saw designed to rip something this thick?  I don't want to ruin my saw by using it inappropriately

I assume by your comments that you are using the original blade that came with the TS75? If so, that's the wrong blade for what you're doing. If you're going to rip lumber - especially THICK lumber - you need the Panther blade (Saw blade panther 16-tooth for TS 75 - 495378):

Put one of those bad boys in your TS75 and then report back. I'll bet it will seem like you have a brand new saw!

    The blade that comes with the TS75 is the Universal blade. It is basically a combination blade with both ripping and cross cut design. As such it is a bit of a compromise  for both tasks. Ripping 2" thick cherry would certainly be a taxing cut  especially since the blade has had some use already.

    For ripping the cherry go with the Panther, or multiple passes with the Universal. I would also get the Universal sharpened at this point.

Have you cleaned the blade lately? I've ripped some pretty thick hardwood with mine using the Universal Blade.

its what Ive been using in my CMS. Though Ive only cut 30mm thick pine.
I agree with Tom try cleaning the blade

I appreciate everyone's help.  I have ordered the panther blade as suggested.  It should arrive tomorrow. At that point, I will clean the original blade and check it's sharpness.  I may just reserve the original blade for plywood and thinner stock.

There can be stresses in the wood that squeeze the blade when released as you rip through it.  I've experienced bog down even with freshly sharpened blades because of this.
