TS-75 Illuminum (Aluminum) Blades Discontinued

Yes, they are discontinued in N. America only. There is one in the Classifieds section now, if you need it.

If you can't get hold of a Festool blade, give us a call.

We are stocking Tenryu metal cutting blades for both the TS55 and 75.  They are great quality, our customers say they are comparable to Festool blades at a similar/slightly lower cost.

I had to look it up,
discovered Illuminum right next to to Unobtainium on the Alt. Universe Periodic Table.

Blade for that has a coating of kryptonite.

Thanks for the suggestions. Will be in touch since we cut a lot illuminum in our shop.

...And I never laughed so hard at myself for that spelling error! Sorry guys.

So is that a US-only thing? Because Festool.de still lists the 493201

As far as I've seen, yes, these blades are only removed from the Festool line up in North America.

Because the U.S. is so sue happy. The concern was that cutting aluminum while hooked to dust extractor could cause a fire, resulting in lawsuit against Festool.
At least that's what I was told.

Not sure about that. Aluminum does not produce sparks the way steel does. The shavings are pretty hot, but they cool off in an instant, before reaching the vac.

There used to be a spark trap available as an accessory.  Think it's been discontinued.

I got a glazed look when I asked to order one a few years ago for some aluminum honeycomb panels we were cutting in a penthouse.

Don't think it made a bit of difference , but it sure made the GC and safety officer happy.

This whole move away from metal cutting in the USA ONLY, started about 10-12 months ago when Festool decided to no longer offer the spark trap, 484733. Then about 5-6 months ago, Festool decided to no longer offer the steel cutting blade for the TS 75, and the Aluminum/Plastic cutting blades for the TS 55, TS 75 and Kapex.

FWIW...Bob Marino still offers the Festool/Leitz Aluminum/Plastic blade, 495383, for the TS 75 while supplies last.
