TS55 and CT26 tripping breakers

I have a Festool TS55 and a CT26 vac.  I can't seem to make it through even a crosscut in 3/4 ply without tripping a breaker.  The circuit has nothing else running on it other than a small box fan.  It's only a 15 amp circuit, but I can't imagine that some contractors out there don't encounter that kind of circuit when they are working on a job site.  Does anyone have any idea what I could be doing wrong, or is this normal?

Thanks so much!

I have tripped breakers at customer's homes when using an extension cord.  If I turned down the suction on the CT it would stop tripping.  I also make sure to have a spare sharp blade.

What Peter said is true when it comes to using an extension cord sometimes they are the problem, but I would also try another circuit and see what happens also, It may be a weak breaker causing this under that load, even though its not that great of a load.

I think Sal could be right about the breaker.  That or you have a really, really dull blade. [tongue]  Swapping out a breaker isn't hard or you could ever run a new 20amp circuit.

I don't know about other states but here in nj we are required to use arch fault breakers. I can't use any power tools in outlets protected by them as they are constantly tripping. The only locations they are not required is baths, kitchens and for major appliances. Another thing I notice is when I use my ct22 and kapex on some outlets the saw will not reach top speed. I'm assuming it's from voltage drop.

Yeah, you're going to have to sell all of your power tools and replace them with hand tools, should be fun.

I was tripping a breaker as well. Changed the breaker and the problem stopped. Yeppers.  [smile]

Just yesterday, I was using my TS55 and Midi trimming a 3 degree bevel on 1 3/8" poplar doors and the saw bogged down and tripped the breaker twice. I never did get a good cut - burnt edges and circular saw marks. Terrible cut. I'm not sure what the problem is. I was only cutting the edge off the door, not a full piece. Blade is sharp.  Any thoughts?

The TS55 will handle this kind of cut with the right blade.  Remember, this is a rip cut so the 48t blade that comes with the saw isn't do well ripping.  I use the Tenryu 28t blade but you could certainly use a Festool 28t universal or the Panther blade.

Brice, I think you're right and that was my mistake. I need a rip blade. I also left the green zero clearance fitting on. I just read that it should be remove on bevel cuts. Live and learn....
