Ts55 clear view guard

Hi guys,

Whilst sorting out my gear earlier, I took the plunge saw out of the box to clean it up a bit, and in the process I took out the clear view guard to clean it up but for the life of me I can't seem to get it to click back in, is there something I'm missing? I've got the green splinter guard but would prefer to whack the clear one back on.

Any tips would be greatly appreciated!

I guess I’d start by making sure it’s not broken or deformed. Not sure how else I can help!

Have you removed the blade cover at some point to clean out the saw housing or replace the dust collection elbow?
In that case the little spring clip that holds up the view guard could be missing.

Thanks very much, yep that spring clip is missing! Will have to look around and hope that it didn't get swept up 😑

Just to nit pick; that is the TS55R; not the older TS55?

The TS55 doesn't have a clear viewguard, only a green anti-splinterthing, the even older ATF55 only has a clear viewguard, no option for an antisplinter-insert.

If you need to order a replacement the partnumber for the spring is 466084

It's the newer one yes, still can't find that clip  [sad]
Just forget it and use a worn-out green anti-splinter guard piece for uses where a good one is not needed. That way you can have the screw all the time in the saw and just put in a fresh/good anti-splinter piece when needed not worrying about the screw storage. For the occasional edge-cutting near a wall you can do without it anyway.

Mine it is sitting in my "unneeded Festool things bin" ever since I got the saw. Come to think of it, I may remove the spring next I clean the saw so it does not create unneeded obstruction when adjusting the green ones.

Another benefit is that without the spring you can put 165mm blades which would come in contact with (only) the spring otherwise.
