Hi all, first post here and feel my feet slowly beginning the decline down Festool's slippery slope, and I apologize in advance if this question has been asked before, I did a quick search but did not pull up results so if someone can please chime in some quick feedback this is time sensitive as it regards a craigslist ad which won't be around very long!

Are there drawbacks to the TS55 EQ rather than going with the updated REQ?

Thank you in advance!

Thank you, so it's sort of just better all around then. The deal on CL seems too good to pass up, though I am curious how those of you who have these tools, especially if you have had the EQ and then had the REQ, would advise me? It's no secret that these tools are expensive new, and worth it too, but I'm pretty tempted to try to get this deal. I've heard complaints about the power of the 55, is the motor the same on the EQ vs. the REQ?

I have both the EQ and REQ. In the end, the most important thing is the cut, right? The cuts between the two models are indistinguishable. As much as I'd prefer to sell you a new one, this does appear to be a good deal. Almost too good of a deal. So, buyer beware.

Thank you, and if I miss this deal I will be going with a new one. I'm convinced. I've done my research, and drawn my conclusion. Went to the local dealer and got to demo one and that was all it took...

I have the EQ, REQ, TSC and a 75.

All of my saws have been matched.

The EQ was my first Festool purchase 10 years ago, still going strong to this day. The R was purchased due to work load, field saw and shop saw needed. Cordless for those times I need just a few cuts while in the filed. 75 for the capacity.

The main difference between the EQ and R for me is the outboard splinter guard does not have to be removed on the R for bevel cuts. Other than that they perform equally.

If you get the EQ do the dust port update.

[member=4105]tjbnwi[/member] Can I ask what the EQ dust port update is?  I tried doing a search but nothing was coming up.  Thanks Tom!
