TS55 REQ 45 degree problems

I recently had to put my 5 year old original TS55 to rest.  It had been a workhorse for me.  The good thing is that I got a new toy!

The first thing I realized about this saw is that when cutting at 45 degrees, it does not hit the rubber at the same spot as the square cuts!  This is a major problem for me.  Is there something new with this saw that requires adjustment?  My old 55 hit the rubber right on the mark every single time.

HELP!

That's not right. It should pivot without affecting the splinterguard. Send it in for a check-up. To quote from Festool's website:-

"When used with a quality guide rail, track saws are hard to beat for straight cuts. The guide strip on the edge of the rail acts as a zero clearance surface, and can be used to place the saw blade exactly on the cut line. Being able to maintain an accurate cut line is important regardless of the bevel angle of the saw. A good plunge cut track saw will use a pivoting mechanism to ensure that the cut line stays exactly on the edge of the guide rail regardless of the saw's bevel angle setting."

UGH...

I will have to send it in then.  I hate being without my track saw.  Hopefully they will replace my splinter guards as well!

I have the same problem.  When I made a 45 degree cut it actually removed more of the splinter guard.  Now, when I make 90 degree cuts, there's a tiny gap between the surface of the wood being cut and the blade.  I did not notice this initially, and I now have 2 tracks with splinter guards like this.

Welcome to the FOG.

It is a great resource for projects , techniques, ideas and tool info. And at times there is humour and banter across the Internet from around the world.

There is a recall on the ts55 of sorts at the moment so you should get that issue resolved at the same time ..

Thanks.  That is what I am doing (recall).  I also did describe the clearance issue, but that issue should become moot once I swap out the current saw.  I will have to pull the splinter guard/strip and re-apply it a little more outward from the track(s) to re-clearance it.
