TS55 REQ - Power cutting out and back in

I purchased the TS55 just after Christmas (a month ago) and I've noticed a couple problems.
1. I'm not able to get the cord to twist into place. I've tried tilting the saw to get better leverage but I can't seem to get it to lock in without feeling like I'm going to break it.
2. In the middle of cutting sheet goods the power is cutting out for a split second and then coming back. It has done this about 10 times to me. I've checked the cord and it is pushed all the way in so I don't think its a cord issue.

Anyone else experienced these issues? Thanks!

If the plug doesn’t twist fully into position and “snick” into place, you probably are not getting a good connection.

I’ll second that. Make sure the cord is fully seated and twisted. There are a couple of Festools that I don’t use often and it’s very, very difficult to fully seat and twist the plug into position.

To check this out, I’d pull the blade off the saw, fire up the TS 55 and while it’s running, vigorously jiggle/pull the cord at the Twist Lock connection.

And...... [welcome] to the FOG!!!

By not fully twisting your Plugit cord the required 1/4 turn, you very well may have damaged either, or both the Plugit and the socket on the tool. Worse yet, if you were to use a damaged cord on another tool, you might damage that tool's socket also. Same thing if you use a new/good Plugit cord on a damaged tool's socket. So, get this corrected before you do further damage.

There has been discussion about this issue here before. Check out this thread for further reading on this problem.

I have the same problem, the same plug-it twist normally on other tools but not on the TS55. I use the plug-it that came with the TS55 for all tools since it is attached to the CT hose.

You should call Festool right away, as your 30-day return period is about to expire. Just call the phone number shown on the tool and tell them what is going on. You may have better options if you call within this 30-day period than you would if you wait.

On Edit: Oh, and I almost forgot;  welcome to the forum!  [big grin]

Thanks for all of the advice. I called Festool service line. After tilting the saw and really bearing down I was able to get the cord to lock in place. The tech did mention that the intermittent power issue was likely due to the cord not being fully seated. Thanks again and I'm happy to be a part of such a knowledgeable group!
