Hello
Very quick question, I hope the wealth of knowledge here can help please…..
I’ve just bought the 30” & 50” parallel guide set and a guide rail adapter from TSO having already owned the Festool branded TSO rail square.
Anyway, when tightening the knobs with the centering washers to affix the guides to either the square or the adaptor I expected the guides to sit fairly square to the rail and this isn’t the case.
I know the rail square itself is there to ensure a 90 degree cut so is there a problem if the guides don’t sit square?

TLDR….
Should the knobs with the centering washers pull the guide close to square when tightened or do you have to square them manually each time you change guide lengths?

Many thanks

Hi,

Thank you for the replies, apologies I’ve not had a chance to respond properly.
I had a spare hour yesterday so got a chance to play…….
Firstly, I moved and recut the splinter guard on my guide rails and I finally got around to cutting an old 1400 guide rail own to a 600 and an 800 at the same time, very useful sizes for me.
Anyway I’m not sure if the TSO rails need to be absolutely perpendicular to the Festool guide rail but it only takes 30 seconds to do so with a square, probably my metrology background that’s making me overthink this.
The important thing for me is I cut some scrap BB plywood as a test and it is spot on square and the lengths are within 0.25mm which is far better than I will ever need or have ever achieved using pencil marks before.
The system is great and I think with a bit of practice will become second nature.

Thank you for the kind offer but I’m in the UK and it probably would prove to be too difficult and expensive to do.  :(

[member=61268]Trickster[/member] - the absence of member geographic locations in FOG profiles does make it more difficult to respond to posts more appropriately.

I do have some engineering information to share with you if you let me know your direct email address.
