I didn't see that anyone else has seen these yet, but in the Seattle Woodcraft store today, I saw the Tuffer Tenons.  They look good, unfortunately as hard as I tried, I couldn't find any justification to buy them as I'm between projects right now.

Did a search on the woodcraft website and they're available on-line as well:

Brice,

Having multiple woods, my first thought was the same - through tenons.   Having grooves show is a serious design flaw, IMO.    If they can resolve this issue, they look like a nice option.

Dan.

Just bought my Domino at Woodcraft two days ago. I ask the manager about their tenons, his reply " I don't know why we are making them." They have very limited knowledge of Festool products at the Tucson, AZ location. (Wood Workers Source has less knowledge.) Just wanted to thank everyone for their views, reviews, pic's and video's, they are very helpful. :)

Bru--

Welcome to FOG.

I'm constantly amazed at sales staff that don't know anything and don't even seem to feel unhappy about admitting it.  Maybe some part-timer, OK, but a manager?

OK, here's our sales script:

"No I can't tell you anything about it.  Seems pointless to me and more expensive than the stuff I do understand.  So, do you want it?"

I see Tux in your pic.  Are you running on Linux?  Be sure to have a look around the test forum and throw in your opinion from your OS/browser perspective.

Brice--

Are the grooves in the Tuffer Tenon compressed?  Any chance of wrapping half the domino with something damp and making them expand?  Sounds a bit fiddly, but would it work?

Ned

These Tuffer Tenons do look interesting but since they have groves that go the full length, you really cant use them for through tenons as the groves do show.  Since they can't be used for through tenons, why have different species wood ?

Since it is completely concealed, does it matter that your tenon is made from walnut or oak or maple?

Precisely!

Ned, they appear to be cut, not compressed.

Thanks for the welcome Ned. Just came in from the shop had to play with my new domino (Love It), made a couple of draws. Going to start a new work bench/ run off table tomarrow. Yes it is frustrating not to get the correct info from a sales person, I do like your reply. Yes I run Ubuntu Linux, I will check out the test thread. Thanks Bru ;D For through tenons can't you simply make your own domino's out of any wood?

Bru,
Welcome to the forum!

You'll find a lot of us here using both the Domino, as well as alternative software (Click Here).  I happen to be running Kubuntu Linux myself.

Thanks Matthew for the welcome and the link. I'm amazed at the great idea's put forth in these forums. Everyone has really helped in my Festool buying decisions. Currently enjoying TS55 w/ a couple of guide rails, 1400 router w/ guide rail, and edge guide, CT22 with mini cyclone attached, RO 150 dual mode sander, and the latest addition the Domino Q. Some of my other tools are getting lonely and feeling neglected. Still use them once in a while, (kind of like Windows, I think I logged into it two or three months ago). Hey thanks again for all the time you put into this great site.
