Tuning saw to guide track

I just took delivery of my new TS55 EQ and MFT/3 package and in the process of setting up the table ran into the instruction that says I need to tune the saw to the track. Placing the saw on the track I see a slight bit of looseness that I want to correct. The illustration shows using a screw driver on the saw but I assume that was a previous model. My new saw has two green knobs that I think are the adjusting points but the saw manual doesn't really address this point. I guess. I need to make this change before I cut the splinter guard. Could use your help and thanks in advance. I want to do the setup right.

The two green knobs are gibs or cams.  You place the saw on the guide rail and turn the gibs so that the saw is very loose on the rail.  then slowly turn one gib at a time until it feels like that part of the saw base has tightened up to a "just snug" fit on the rail, slide the saw back and forth "micro adjusting that same gib until the saw slides freely or easily without having side to side play.  Repeat for the 2nd gib.  If necessary go back and repeat process for 1st gib.  In the end, the saw should slide well, but not have any noticeable side to side play.

Next you have to follow instructions for trimming the strip on the guide rail and checking that the saw has the proper toe-in at the front of the blade compared to the back of the blade.

Thanks, guys. I got it. I actually had downloaded the PDF manual in preparation for getting this equipment and believe that will be more useful than the printed manual. It was all covered in the PDF. I just didn't have my iPad out in the garage at the time.

No, I have the correct Ts55 PDF manual. It was the printed manual that came with the mft/3 that showed the old adjustment. I wonder if there is a similar updated PDF for the table though? I'll be looking around for one.

You've downloaded the ATF55 manual. You need the TS55 manual. http://www.waterfront-woods.com/festool/TS_55_EQ_US.pdf

I am not aware of a supplemental manual for the MFT/3, but there are some outstanding videos out there on youtube.

Here is a series of three done by an attendee at a cabinet class in Lebanon, Indiana in 2010.

MFT/3 - Part 1

MFT/3 - Part 2

MFT/3 - Part 3

The trainers are Steve Bace and Brian Sedgeley.  Steve is the primary trainer in these videos.

Thanks, Peter. I'm aware of those videos and have already watched them several times, not to mention the many others for Festool products. They've been pretty helpful.

I have the MFT/3 pretty well set up now in my garage but I suspect I'll still need to do some fine tuning on the track. It's pretty cold here in Minnesota so the fingers are not doing that well. To my eye the track seems a bit off so I'll go through those adjustments a second time tomorrow when it should warm a bit.
