UJK Work Holding Top for Systainer

I saw this new product advertised and thought it would be handy. I liked the idea of the t-track and a worktop that was potentially more flexible than my SYS-MFT and easier to cart around.

The T-Track is good.

The rest is disappointing. This is down to it only fitting the top of a Systainer SYS2. It wont fit on a CT Vac, many Sortainers, and not a Systainer3. This arises from their decision to re-use the plastic T-Loc catch as the four feet. The feet are too wide and wrongly spaced to fit more universally. Crazy.

At the same price as a SYS-MFT, I can't recommend it.

This is the second UJK product (the other been their digital height gauge) that has bad design flaws. Who tests them before they are released?

What holds the t-track in the MDF top. I don't see any bolts or screws on the underside, so must only be short screws in from the top, and/or maybe some epoxy.

I don't think it is as nice as the Workbench-Mini that I have been using. The Mini has more clamping options and a few other features I don't see here. One is the magnets embedded in the corners that you can use to grab on to screws or tools to keep them from rolling off the worktop and a pencil groove.

The t-track is in a dovetail slot, so pretty secure.
I like the idea of the magnets to grab bit.

I had fairly long call with the guys at Axminster yesterday at their suggestion to discuss its shortcomings. Will be interesting to see if anything comes of it.

The cart is just something I made from a cheap movers dolly, nothinig to write home about and has no connection to the worktop.

The feet on the prototype I have look to be 3d printed. I don't know anything about 3d printing so I can't tell you what material they are made from but they are good quality and strong. I don't see any ridges from each print pass, they are smooth and well formed. If the feet on the finished product will be 3d printed or these are just what they used on the prototype I can't answer.

Not sure what the true name of this will be. I call it the workbench-mini but that is not it's true name. I was given one to evaluate and don't really know much more or even when they are projecting to make these available. But the piece I have is nicely made and loaded with features. I have used it a few times and like it. Previously I used my SYS-MFT but I like this one for the added workholding abilities and other thoughtful features.

Supposedly there are additional pieces that when built out over multiple Systainer stacks (see the attached graphic they shared with me recently) expand the work top out to create about as large a worksurface as you might want. So the 'system' is modular and you can take with you only what you might need for a particular job. And it breaks down into light weight and manageable pieces for transport.

If you want more info regarding availability or other pieces of the system they are developing you can contact the developer directly. I don't know any details on the rest of the system.

I don't have any connection this company other than them giving me this one piece to evaluate.

I like the look of the Workbench-Mini.  Doesn't come up on any searches.  However, it looks like the company is pretty innovative.  I like both ideas better than the Festool Systainer work surface.

Looks like the challenge for making one at home is the little nubby for the Systainer latch to catch onto.  Any ideas?

But with cold WX coming I have stuff to do outside to get ready for Winter. I have two tractors and a riding mower that need maintennace and I hate doing that stuff in the cold so hope to get some of that done this weekend.
