Some of you have already expressed an interest in having some sort of social meet at the W14 Exhibition at the NEC, which runs from the 5th to the 8th October.
I'm also a member of the UK-based Kitchen Fitters' Forum. A small group of members get together every so often, and we're having another social on the Saturday evening before the show opens, and we're throwing the doors open to members of the FOG too!
It's very informal (I'm sorry, but drinking and swearing are pre-requisites - we are British after all!) and basically just a chance to meet up, have a nice meal, and chat about anything & everything. We then decend en-masse on the show the following day, some of us slightly worse for wear!!!
It's going to be at the Solihull (Hockley Heath, M42) Premier Inn on Saturday 4th October. The hotel is only a 10-15 minute drive from the NEC - not too far, but far enough so that the room prices aren't ridiculously high. We stayed there for a previous social (during the KBB show in February) and both the food and staff were great. Currently, saver rate rooms are available at a cost of £44, but this may go up nearer the time so it's best to book early.
We generally meet in the bar from around 4pm, then have a bit of a break about 6ish so people can get checked in, showered, changed, etc., then meet back in the restaurant about 7.
If anybody does want to join us, please feel free to do so, but please let me know in this thread so we have an idea of numbers for the restaurant.
