i have been reliably told that festool are to raise their prices in the uk by up to 7% in july, this on top of the already steep new year price increases is a disgrace, obviously they must not have heard there is a recession!,anyone else heard this?

Did prices go up in January or was it just an increase in VAT that was passed on?

We had some price increases here in North America, but they were not uniform and were larger for some accessories than tools in general, so hopefully that will be the case for you too.

Well in January here in the uk we did have a increase but we did also of a decrease in some tools and accessories aswell.

This 7% is alot and I will be asking my dealer as he has not informed me which he normally does.

If thats the case they must use the same financial school as Warren [mad]

no, there were significant price rises as well as the v.a.t increase in january, festool must be intent to implement price rises twice a year now, they take us for mugs here, bet they wouldn't dare try that in north america, jmb,i must have blinked and missed any price decreases in january, anything i looked at went up in price

I will email slingers on monday and ask if they have heard anything,

I have two large purchases planed for this year, [sad]

other than that its just the usual £200ish a month on small items

No der was deffos decrease dude as my dealer told me a few off the tools and accessories one of them being the CXS which dropped as I can remember but not sure by 6-9 pounds.  The systainer vac suction adapters accessories I think cus I bought one at the time.

So you must of slept not blinked lol

I think they want more of a standardized pricing within Europe. With the British pound as low as it is, it's significantly cheaper for me to import from Britain than buying from my local Swedish dealer.

If I where a festool dealer I would put pressure on festool to do something..

Today we have been informed that our friends at Festool are going to have a price increase in July of upto 7% so we have decided that you our valued customer deserves a chance to buy the tools you need at a discounted price before this increase.

From an e-mail I got yesterday from a Festool dealer.

The e-mail also contained a discount code, which is for 10% off any Festool power tool (not accessories). This is the first time I've ever seen a dealer discounting directly like this on the tools. Not sure if Festool UK have approved it...

If anyone wants more info, PM me (though I will be out most of the day so it may be tonight before I can reply).

i can remember the jan price hike,

just before christmas i got a of2200 and it was around 630£ after jan it was 708£ [eek] like £55 ontop of the VAT rise

Nooooo! i hope this isnt true, kind of like this contractor telling me he was gonna deduct 30% off me for tax the other day! after a few phone calls i found out he was wrong, so all a lot of hot air over nothing! lets hope this is the case too....

Hmm could be stock in the old classic systainer my dealer slingers 1858 is also discounting tools in classsics..

the mft is classed as a tool is,nt it? [scratch chin]

I believe the MFT is classed as an accessory so a discount may be possible.

No, the MFT is classed as a tool. In the UK, accessories can be discounted up to 20% - there is (normally) no discount available on the MFT.

if the price rises are designed to "standardize pricing within europe" this is of no comfort as the prices are extortianate elsewhere in europe, festool should tighten there belts like many of us have had to do,they are making mafell look like an increasingly attractive option.

I just bought a Zeta it makes the festools look sooooo cheap... [big grin]

Id rather have  Mafell  [big grin] I sold my Ts55 and got the Mafell MT55CC  which is a far better saw...

John..

I'm looking at this from another perspective.  If the prices go up in the U.K., maybe we North Americans can work out some good trades for stuff we can't get and stuff that's cheaper over here that you guys want.  [wink]

+ 1 on that I think the mafell is a great saw I love the blade change on the mafell  but I still really like my ts55 as well.
