I've been looking for some hose sleeve for my standard (3.5m 27mm AS) hose.  JAK147 was kind enough to point me in the direction of a source:

http://www.hypex.co.uk/product.php?productid=16465&cat=357&page=1

I got 5m of 1.25" in Orge (JAK147 told me it matched Festool's green, and he's right).  It was a breeze to fit, and now enables my hose to slide smoothly over the edge of the MFT.  £19.20 well spent.

Cool i had been thinking of using lay flat hose on mine.  [embarassed]

I've got some sleeving that I picked up a while back but haven't used. I will check what size it is if anyone is interested in buying some.

Does anyone have any recomendations for the size of flexo for the 36mm size and the 50mm size?  I'm in the yukon and there is no one selling it so I'm going to have to buy blind off the net.  I need it for the track saw, and for the router.  I'm a little tired of it going wonky everytime the hose catches.

Thanks

For all of us who are INA, Flexo Pet sleeving is available and in stock from Digi-Key:

http://www.digikey.com/product-detail/en/PTN1.25BK50/1030-1011-ND/2502456

It appears that they only stock it in black, but that's OK since that's the color I'd probably want anyway.

I also found it at Amazon in Neon Green. 25' is $22.28 & $5.78 shipping (not Prime):

Roseland how come you didn't run the power cable thru the sleeving

Because some of my tools (a yellow freehand router, a Triton router in a table, a jigsaw, a pocket hole jig...) still want extraction but don't use the Festool connector.

It's still an option to do it when I'm all Festool.  :-)

Forgive me if I have missed the point - but why sleeve the hose?

Do the Festool hoses wear out? Is the extra stiffness (and small extra cost) worth it? I can see a minor advantage if the plug-it cable gets included.

Regardless of the answer, the green sleeving does look very smart - sort of "pimp my hose" - I hope that is not something really rude in NA.

I think it stops it getting caught on the tracks and other sharp edges peter what I am worried about would not being able to put it back in the midi but I'll see what it's like after I back form my holidays and I can test it

Well I've just bought 5m too. I am thinking that I probably only need 2.5m for my 27mm hose to solve the catching problem. I'm going to see if it fits my 36mm hose and then put 2.5m on that. I will try and feed the cable through too but I'm not optimistic for the 36mm hose. And if it doesn't fit the 36mm hose at all then I'll just put all 5m on the 27mm and it'll cover a repair that I had to make(darn electric blower). I'll let you know what I find when it turns up.

Oh and thanks Roseland!

It can be hard to find this stuff in the UK.

Tech Flex comes in 1.5" and 2" sizes as well. Might be easier to fit a cord and hose inside one of the larger sizes?

I used cabletiesandmore.ca and had good luck. I bought 1 3/4" colored PET - neon green and 3"  2:1 heat shrink tubing for the ends.

I found it helps in a couple of areas, It doesn't catch on the edges of guide rails or work pieces, it keeps the plug it cord with the hose so packing up and going from site to site is easier and you we never get the plug it cord and hose tangled around you.  It also stays very flexible, I didn't notice any additional stiffness.

I visit cabletiesandmore.ca but I need to purchase large quantities to get the color ones, only the black is sold by the foot.  Did you buy the black one?

Check out http://www.wirecare.com/. They will ship internationally and have lots of options.

I plan to order the 1.5" version from them so I can capture the cord as well as the 36mm hose.

My hose was showing signs of wear, but the main reason was to make it slide freely over the edge of the bench.  It isn't generally an issue when using the TS55 and track, but sometimes when routing an edge the hose would snag and stop the router from sliding smoothly.  It works well.
