From a Dutch dealer I saw this part of the new CTL Midi (#499748).
It seems that they are interchangeable with the older Mini/Midi tops.
The price is only €55 incl. VAT.
I always thought that the black top was different and therefore could not be changed on older Mini/Midi's.
But now I get it and the grey bottom also need to be changed.

I changed my post by adding the part number.
It seems to be one number for the two parts.
The EKAT also shows two parts but with one part number.

That is useful thank you.

I will no doubt "need" one of these, although the price, even at Nuts & Bolts is a bit steep at £52.12.

As far as I know the CTL26 has not been similarly updated?

I think I might 'need' one, too. As you say, the price seems a bit steep - €55 is around £44.19 so £52.12 seems a little high. Perhaps one of the UK dealers on here could do a 'FOG Special' on this item?  [poke] I'm sure they'd sell quite a few.

Oh, and there's no similar update for the CTL26 - that uses a different method of attachment, and I doubt it could be altered to T-Loc as the top of the vacuum is a significantly larger area than the base of a systainer.

Will this fit the old Midi - ie before Festool refreshed it with greater suction?

Would also be tempted if a little cheaper if so ...

I would think so because the design of the original casing didn't change only the suction only when the Mini/Midi T-Loc version appeared on the market.
You can also check the EKAT catalogue with the number of your Midi and compare that to the updated (middel) version.

Thanks - will check ...

I received my new T-Loc Midi top today and installed it on my CTL Midi from 2008.
Was not as easy as I thought it would be.

You have to disconnect three power wires and the extra earth lead to the hose inlet.
And you need longer screws (supplied also) to finally put everything together.

I also noted on the EKAT that this new CTL Midi top (#499748) is a replacement part for the older Midi's and not the one which is on the new Midi because this one has an other part number (#499906 & 500118).
That also counts for the CTL Mini.
And it's nice from Festool that they are updating older parts with the new possibilities of the T-Loc systainers.

Received my Mini Facelift set from The Netherlands yesterday.

As posted above, it is a little more fiddle than just screwing on the new top, but on the other hand it is a good opportunity to give the machine a good going over and clean.  The only complication which took an extra few minutes was that being a bit stupid, I did not realise at first that the the new screws are provided 'cos they are longer than the old ones ...d'oh!

In my view a worthwhile upgrade - the T-Loc fitting is so much more satisfying to use (I found the four clips on the old fitting very annoying).

Now, come on Festool, where is the facelift for the CT26?!

I was told by Festool USA that I could do this upgrade, but both times I tried to order they were OOS on it. Since I got my CT36AC I sold my Midi, so no longer need it but I appreciate that what I was told is accurate and can be done.

I'm sure this info will help a number of others, so thanks very much for posting it!

Thanks for the pics. I see this being an upgrade I do soon. I always keep the compact cleaning kit on my midi and this would make it faster to take that on and off.

$57.85 on EKAT  [sad]

I guess if I broke the top on my Midi it would be worth the upgrade?

I really like the tab above and to the right of the T-Loc latch.  Keeps you counter clockwise, wise guys in line.  [poke]

Anyone know if it's considered safe to carry a mini or midi by the systainer handle?  I did this last weekend, and I was worried it might break either the systainer handle or the clips on the [old style] mini.

Shouldn't be any problem with an amount of weight that you can actually carry. I have done so many times.

I noticed this on ekat the other day. Glad someone has posted about it and showed it can be done. Will go ahead and get one now. Have been waiting since breaking the hose garage to bits by standing on it!
