Hi Folks,

Is it possible to fit routers, other than Festools, to the rail on the MFT 3 workbench?

It isn't that I don't want a Festool router,  ;D but I have more than enough routers of other makes. (Elu, Bosch
and DeWalt)

So, before I rush out to buy a Festool Router, can I rig up my Elu 1/2" to fit the rail?  [scratch chin]

Thanks in Anticipation.  [big grin]

Of course you can if you make a sled that fits the rail profiles.  You will also need to make allowances for the elevation of the sled off the workpiece due to the rail.  Whether or not it will have adjustability towards or away from the rail will depend on your ingenuity.

Before I decided to spring for a 1010 I was planning to mount my Bosch 1617 to the lr32 adaptor plate.  It would have worked but would have required some careful drilling and tapping.  If you don't already have the entire lr32 kit make sure when you buy the plate you also pick up a centering mandrel for initial setup

There are other brand tools that make adaptors too -- Micro-Fence is one that adapts to most routers and they make a guide rail attachment.  Not sure if they ship Internationally, but you can easily check and I would guess that they do.  Super high-quality stuff.

Thanks folks.

I think I shall have to see to my settings. I had no notification of replies to my original post! My hiccup then.  ;D

On balance, I think I will buy a Festool router and the necessary kit; eventually... I just ordered a Domino XL, due sometime in the next few days and clearly, I shall have to rein in a bit.

I do have a router and Trend Routerack for using the router overhead, so I will see if I can adapt that to the MFT. It should be possible, and if it works well, I'll photograph anything worthwhile.

Thanks again for all the advice.
Much appreciated.
