I'm sure somebody has already come up with this, but in case it has got lost amidst the wealth of information on the FOG, I just "found" a new way to conveniently keep hose and cable together, whilst allowing easy adjustment - small rings cut off a bicycle inner tube make the perfect size "rubber bands" to go over the hose and hold the cable in place.  Apologies if I'm boring the already enlightened.

Brilliant!

It's a good job we've got so many SAD people on FOG helping all us other SAD folk. LOL. No, thanks to the OP for this tip.....I've already replaced my elastic bands (which kept breaking but which worked for a while) with slices of my daughters inner tube!

Was with a colleague on site yesterday and was able to pass on this tip for holding the vacuum tube and power cable together. He was very appreciative. I told him where I found this little gem and he's now a signed up member like us. Anyone got any other similarly suitable simple tips?

The child safety cabinet door lock as MFT rail holder I thought was pretty inventive, although I don't use it.

The one that just came up last week or so was reverse the vac hose over the blower outlet to clear blockage, that was a good one.

The 1900 guide rail works well to align the in/outfeed tables for the Kapex (couldn't resist, you guys know I'm going to take the easy shot ;D)

Brice's tip about painter's tape on the vac wheels to prevent scratching nice floors was a good one.

Keeping the rail connectors parked in one of the rails is an obvious one.

I put a couple coats of tung oil on the MFT top so I wouldn't wreck it if I put my water bottle down on it.

I prefer these:

from Lee Valley.  These velcro ties are also great for hanging bandsaw bands.  McFeely's and others also sell a similar product which is a lot larger and great for electrical cords, pneumatic hoses, spray hoses, etc....

A roll of gardening velcro is cheaper, cut your own lengths, and IT'S GREEN

Tim, that's what I use. I got them from Lowe's, they had 3M brand, 10 for $5 or a no name brand 50 for $4.50. Can't beat that!

I just take the wire and wrap it around the hose (say once every foot or two).  This works quite well.

That happens to me whether I want it to or not... :-\

I prefer techflex braided tubing which offer excellent abrasion resistance. I used velcro straps but they didnt offer any abbrasion protection to the hose and cord and were also great at collecting bits of saw dust and splinters from off-cuts.

Is that the plastic stuff like a Chinese finger trap? How did you do up the ends?

Maybe I am just too cheap.  I wrap the cord around the hose near the plug-it a couple of times and they stay together.
