Vacuum Motorized Head

For years I have been using a Fein Motorized Vacuum head for clean up on job sites.  I do not know if anyone makes these anymore.  The head and wand are similar to many companies vacuum attachments but the beater brush is motorized.  The attachment has a standard plug in that we plug into a CT Mini or CT 26 and use the wand and vac hose.  We use it in the field to vacuum the floor, after sweeping the large debris and screws.  It will not pick up a screw but seems to kick them out so they don't do any damage.  Works great on hard floors and carpet.

The best of the best over the years has been Miele, they consistently integrate their motorized vacuum heads into their canister vacuums seamlessly.  A vacuum head that just vacuums without employing rotating brushes is analogous to the automotive equivalent of a Pinto or Vega...ya they work, but not very well...and don't park the thing in my garage.  [smile]

I'd love it if Festool would introduce one, I've been looking at the Festool cleaning kits but their offerings are pretty benign.

I would check the central vac sites to see if they might have what you want. They have motorized heads and corded hoses that plug into a nearby 120v wall outlet. If their hose ends don't fit you can probably change them out or adapt.

I bought our central vac power unit from ThinkVacuums.com . I know they have motorized powerheads of various types but I don't know any more than that about what they offer, where it is made, or quality or pricing. I am sure there are plenty of other online sellers, I just know this one based on my two orders with them. Prices were reasonable and service and communication was good.

We use the Fein Turbo with a Fein II that I bought because it was on sale and they motorized head came free...fantastic unit.  Cleans rings around any combo I ever used when running a commercial cleaning crew in the 70s/80s.

Thanks for the info Bob...I started with your suggestion to look at ThinkVacuums.com and that slowly wound me around to a 2 hour dive into turbo heads and other vacuum products.  [smile]

It seems that Wessel Werk in Germany manufactures a lot/most of the turbo heads and power heads for the various vacuum manufacturers.

I eventually stumbled upon this Festool item that's not even in their catalog.

I have that for around the home. It is indeed a rebranded Wessel-Werk item. The Festool price is reassuringly high when compared to Wessel's  8).

It's a good brush, solidly built and easy to get to the internals. Comparable to the outgoing Miele brush it replaced.

Ben.
