Are there any plans to update the Vecturo the Starlock quick connect anytime soon?

Thanks everyone for the information. This weekend I had a friend help me with a project.  He refused to take any money but when I offered him my MultiMaster FMM250Q he could not refuse. Now it's time for me to upgrade.

First, we don't ship internationally, but I'm sure you can find the adapter in Germany.

When you insert the adapter, it's possible that it will not be perfectly aligned with the body of the tool. Meaning that the blade may be a couple of degrees off-center. But, it's not a big deal for any application that I can think of since the blade oscillates anyway. So, perfect alignment is not an issue, even with the plunge base for the Vecturo.

If you're upgrading get the multimaster 350 then. Cuts much faster than the old 250 , less vibration & less noise.

Be aware that the Multimaster 350 comes in two versions currently!  The old, sell-through one, the 350Q and the new 350QSL.  The difference is in the blade attachment.  The Q had a quick release pin lock and the new QSL does away with that and has a quick release snap fit which is better.  Google Youtube for video demos.

UK members who are quick can pick up a 350QSL MM kit with a whole bunch of blades included, all for £190 in the Black Friday sales at Miles Tool & Machinery in the UK (I have no connection or interest)

BTW - General Question:  [scratch chin]
Can anyone confirm that the new Fein Multimaster 350QSL fully fits the Festool depth stop and positioning aids?  I've seen various comments but I'm unclear if:
1) the collars are the same size, or if a shim is required for the Fein?
2) normal articulation is restricted in any way?
3) if there's a gap between the base magnet and blade when it's mounted up on the new QSL snap mount

Advice gratefully received if anyone has a definitive answer before I place an order!!  [not worthy]

Thanks for the advice.  I think the 350QSL will be a great choice.
I too have the same questions since I would also like to get the Festool plunge and depth stops for the Vecturo.
I'm looking to see if I can find a sale on a 350QSL here in the US today.

The Festool Plunge Base "collar" (the piece that bolts on) does not fit over the QSL mount (inside diameter of the collar is too small).  Also, the collar piece is too long to bolt on without modification.  I would suggest going with the Q model if you want to try to use the Festool Plunge Base, but modifications would still be required as well as shimming to prevent the base from hitting the body of the redesigned (350) Multimaster.  -Harry

Harry, thank you for detailed explanation and pictures of the Starlock incomparability.
This was very helpful to me.

Glad I could be of help.

Yesterday I spent quite a bit of time modifying the Festool adapter to fit the Supercut AFSC 18v.  It required drilling out the main hole with a 1-3/8" drill.  I apparently got lucky, because I accidentally drilled it off center (toward the rear of the mount) and it still fit.  It also required trimming off a little over a quarter of an inch of the area behind the mounting screws as well as shimming the mount up and grinding down some new 12mm long screws to have a low profile head so they wouldn't interfere with mounting the plunge base.

The finished product works well, but requires one of two Fein blades, neither of which seem to be available in the USA currently, but did come with my AFSC 18v wood kit: blades 201 and 203.  Because these blades only fit the Supercut due to the Starlockmax mount, this doesn't appear to be an option for the Multimaster QSL.

I'll have to either order blades from the UK or see if they can be ordered here.

Thanks!

Jim, I believe the Starlock blades are backwards compatible with the older Multimaster quick-in mounts (and several others), so no adapter is needed.

Yup, should be compatible.

Thanks for the info regarding the compatibility on the new multimaster and supercut! I have been looking for this for a while. Great modification as well!

Could you elaborate on the blade problems? Why do you need these two specific blades and does this mean that there will be no option that will work on the multimaster?

Hi Magpal,

The issue with the blades is finding blades as long as the Festool base that also have the proper offset 'bend' to be parallel with the base's plunge tubes.  Bosch makes a long enough blade, but it doesn't have the offset required to be parallel with the base.  There may be other blades out there, but I did not see them at the time.

Thanks, Harry

Great, thanks for the clarification. Do you happen to have a link to the blades you had success with? I could not find these in the catalog based on the "201" and "203" description.
