Hello Gentlemen,

I'm recording my latest project.  It's a  floating entertainment center built with solid walnut.  Since I'm using one or two Festool tools in the building process I thought I would share the video series with you.  This will be a multiple video series.  I'll  trying to keep the videos around 6 minutes so you don't get bored watching me destroy some very nice walnut lumber. 

No sketch up drawing to share with you.    I don't use software for my projects.  I'm old school.  Paper, pencil, straight edge rule and a calculator when it comes to drawing up ideas for projects.  I make a quick cut list and just kinda wing it as I go.  Sometimes that works.......sometimes I pay the price.    [embarassed]

Quik question Eric,
What is the domino setting?
All tight
All loose
The ends on the small setting and the field on the loose?

It seems when I do a run like that,sometimes I have to beat the board together a bit more than it appears you did.

Charlie,  On one board the domino is set at the exact setting.  The matching board I open the domino to the next (middle) setting.  I don't try to match two exact widths together.  The strength in this glue up is with the long grain and glue.  The domino is used to help maintain the alignment when applying clamping pressure.  But it doesn't eliminate any errors, too much clamping pressure can still make the glue up move causing one board to set proud of another.

I would think you are less worried about lateral movement ,than vertical ,so that makes sense.

I think one of my mistakes is to go on the tight setting on both sides,and have trouble getting the boards to join. Also, some folks seem to go tight on the end and loose in the feild of the board.

Thanks for the great videos, I enjoyed them very much. Loved how you set up the Black & Decker saw  [eek] [eek] in the 2nd video and then went: "Nah, nah, nah..." and got the Festool. 8) 8) 8) 8)

Great shop, too. And I'm curious to see the next episode and of course the finished project.

Thanks for the build videos [member=8352]erock[/member].  The materials for this project must be pretty pricey!  I have a potential commission for something similar (a built-in shelving unit for a large steel framed bed), but might have to spec it for walnut veneered ply rather than solid wood due to price considerations.

Nice videos as always [member=8352]erock[/member].  Question on the vac-sys and the large end panels in this project:  you are only using the single head- were there times you wish you had the second one?  Or was it pretty stable?

[member=37411]Edward A Reno III[/member]  :    No doubt walnut is pricey.  I've been using plywood so much lately I wanted to build something with actual wood.  [eek]    I'm not a pro, but I think [member=4105]tjbnwi[/member] is on point with giving your client the option.

[member=20329]Gerald_D[/member] :  I'm just rolling with a single head unit.    To date, I've never needed two heads.  The longest panel on this build is
1350mm ( 53")  and I never thought I needed to add an addition head.  I felt the one head held this panel secure enough for sanding all the edges.  The clamping power of the VAC-SYS really needs to be seen in person to appreciate that it's capable of.

And I was told if you can't do that (sleep longer), then sleep faster.  [big grin]

Erock, what size hose do you have connected to the sleeved hose?  Is it 36mm or 27mm?

I like the boom arm as well- will have to copy the idea for my shop.  But just curious why you drilled all the extra holes?

The holes will make  it lighter  but yet  won't compromise  the strength  appreciably.
