I have been doing a lot of veneer edge taping lately. Laminate Iron and frustrated. I broke down and spent the 380 for this model. What a revelation. I actually dont mind taping know. Minimal set up 2 heat settings.

I have only ran maple preglued so far. No issues tight bond and minimal fuss. Trim the edges. Any loose spots flip the gun on run it across and its restuck.
The thing is a bit large. If you do  alot of taping you ought to consider this one.

I've used Fastcap edging for the first time this year and I love this stuff.  Its so quick and easy and so far I've not had any adhesion issues.

Fast cap is good stuff. It is a bit cost prohibitve for me. 250' Roll is $170.00

I get a roll of 500' maple preglued for 26.00

I put a lot on so it would be an economic issue for me.

Hi,

Anyone have the price for the 600 foot roll?

Hi,

Seems like you would just take the time you would normally take for doing X meters and multiply?

Also just a note on edge banding in general.  I just used the Fast Cap - Fast Edge on a couple simple bookcases the other day. It is a peel and stick with acrylic based adhesive.  I like it a lot.  Nice quality appearance to the wood. The little finger joints don't show as much as with other brands I have used.  It is much more expensive than iron on. But it is also much faster. And not having to do the ironing is a great time and frustration saver for me.  Plus it is not susceptible to water base stains loosening the glue!

I have used the Fastcap Fast Edge. It's nice but the adhesive is messy when trying to clean up the edges.

I'm very close to buying the Virutex handheld hot air edge bander ag52. I do a fair bit of edge banding but not enough to warrant a stationary machine.

Can anyone give me some insight into using the Virutex unit?
