Vlies in rectangular pad gone from Festool USA site? What about serial numbers.

First:
  Just when I figured out how to sell this stuff, it disappeared from the Festool USA website. The numbers are 497088 497089 (actually we have plenty of those on hand) and 497090 (gold 1000 grit). Perhaps we can still get some.
Second:
  I would like to find out how to parse the numbers on the systainers for various tools. There are three sets of numbers that are delimited by the strings 01, 11 and 21. It looks to me like in the case of my Emerald Carvex, the numeric strings following the 21 delimiter are eight digits of Tool Number and eight digits of Serial Number. I have no idea what the other strings relate to. The reason I ask is because I would like to develop an app that would allow us to scan the systainers when we receive tools and when we sell tools both for inventory purposes and to assist tool registration for customers. I also think it would help us to track tools in cases of fraudulent purchases, like we had on December 17th and like a number of other Woodcraft stores had. I already am able to scan the numbers with a QR scan app. It would be easy enough to wrap an app around that to take care of the other issues. Any Festool folk have any input??

Not sure where you’re going with this but Festool has been slowly eliminating the Vlies line of abrasives for the last 3-4 years. Originally they offered it for every sander they produced including the DX 93 & the RS 2.

This situation is very interesting because others in the industry are embracing the line of non-woven web materials and heralding it as a new surfacing technology.

On another note, good luck with the direct enquiry to a Festool representative responding to your question on this forum. You’ll stand a better chance of a response if you stand in a pool of water and grab both leads of a 120 volt service.

Unfortunately it’s been this way for the last 3-4 years and it’s not getting better anytime soon.
