Happy fathers day, Fathers and sons and daughters. Mothers and Grandfathers, old and coming back fresh with gleaming eyes. I'm standing at the window wondering when he will come, Bob Marino's little helper, everyone's evil knave, the ups man is coming and i know he's on his way, I hope to have all the manuals read, before the auspicious day.

Hopefully some tool will not need any adjustment or return. I seem to manage a fair number of problems with festools, and i guess that's part of having such an intense focus on the tools, and the work. also like my bmw or computer or espresso machine, they are alive and have spirits attached to them that want attention and care at the least, and offerings and parts or service when ignored.

Awareness without belief in criticism helping the moral fiber is a huge relief for me, my work and life. Just being willing to start over, again and again, as necessary. Learning through failure teaches us far more important messages than success.

Ill try to attach an image from Palau, or Yap the god of construction image is carved in the "men's houses" where the men live collectively with a few shared females (usually visitors from the neighboring tribe) whose images are also carved on the houses.

The wait for the UPS man can be a killer.  

Normally the UPS man makes deliveries  to our house between 11:33am and about 1:30.  This happens ones or twice a week as my daughter is an independent distributor for a candle company. So we get lots of UPS deliveries.

But when I was waiting for a delivery of a new video projector, he did not show up until 8:30PM that night. This was after UPS called the day before to verify someone would be home to sign for the projector. My wife waited all day. We had given up on the UPS guy around 7:00PM. Who knew he would be soooooo late. Oh and it was a Friday and we need to projector for a party as the old one failed.
 
Well it arived, and thank bob, he packed it well, the box was broken, ripped etc. The ups lady was indiferent to an extreme. she said, as i caught her walking away, " if you open it i cant return it" No apology or even recognition that the box was TRASHED. . . WTF ?!

I just sigh and try to understand that most people working at UPS are not happy to have their job, or under ridiculous pressure, or a combination of the two. While my parallel rail box was "popped" open with missing nuts (found in the box under the bottom flap thankfully, i try to be grateful for what i have, health, clean water and air, and wonderful tools (by and large). The fact that the domino was double wrapped with bubble wrap and the box filled with proper packing material saved the day.

I am so busy (again grateful) that i have not had a chance to actually work with it. Once i do, no doubt, i may have more to say on another thread. . .
 
Boy I feel for you, a lot of people here seem to have bad drivers. My UPS guy is the most accommodating person in the world, so is the Fed Ex driver.
 
Great news that you got the new toy tool ;D Look forward to an update on it's maiden outing.

I have a friend who became a delivery driver after several other business enterprises failed, it was a stop gap as he now has a small chain of florists [big grin] I doubt many of these people left school with the ambition of being a delivery person. [blink]
