Walko work struts

At the end of the struts there's a screw.  On mine some of them have a nut and lock washer on the other side, the others do not(they might have come loose).  Whats's that screw for ?

I was thinking about trying to be mount a table top on the strut and then storing Systainers on them (mine is always in the A-frame configuration).  I had difficulty trying to get even a response back on ordering the full table supports, and I have a total of 8 of the work struts.

I just received my Walko from Dan Clermont and ordered 4 of the struts.  They all have the screws.  But if you remove them, they don't seem to make a difference anyways, as the two pieces they keep together are so wedged in the body of the mechanism, they don't seperate regardless.

i never noticed a screw on mine
