Weird Channel Lock pliers...These are somewhat of a mystery to me.

$1 estate sale find.  Markings are "Channellock" and "Champion deArment, Meadville, PA USA."  Also "Zimmer", Zimmer makes orthopedic surgical tools. So, maybe Channellock custom-made these for Zimmer?.

From what I found, this is a modified Channellock Model 426 pliers circa 1951 tp 1963.  The mods appear to be professionally done and the pliers were chrome plated afterwards instead of the bare metal product.

Any thoughts on their use?

Are they all Stainless?  If so Im guessing some type of surgical tool.  They are odd for sure and I have never seen any before. 
 
They are made to align fractures, mostly long bones so you can plate them or do a intra medullary nail.

Only the two clamping pieces are stainless steel.  The rest of the pliers are all forged steel.

Thank you.  This explanation makes the most sense.  Maybe I can find a vintage surgical tool aficiendo that needs this to add to their collection.
