Was checking through the FOG this morning at breakfast table when I saw this through the window.

No it is not a Kangaroo, it is a Wallaby.
Photo grainy as it is a wet morning. And IPad on zoom through a window.

These are very timid creatures, usually found in forrest or bush land, unlike Kanagroos which like grassland. Our nearest forrest area is 15km away so this is a rare site for us, but have noticed him around in the mornings over past month. Probably an adolescent/bachelor male who has left the mob due to the dominant male.

What's the difference between a kangaroo and a wallaby?

Thanks Sparktrician for your interest in this Marsupial.

Basically size and the smaller Wallaby has a shorter more hunched back, shorter ears and is not overall as slim in proportion like the kangaroo. Then there is habitat. The following link will give you more information.

OK Guys, just will have to change subject name to . . . . . NAINA [size=14pt] in the wild!   [big grin]

When I was in Australia playing baseball, I was out driving with my host family we saw 4 kangaroos along the side of the road, they said it was very rare to see them in the area they lived in.

Kangaroos are fascinating. I remember seeing them on TV and was impressed with how fast they can run.

Well, I learned something new today, and it's only two hours since I got out of bed.  It's going to be a good day.  Thanks for the fill-in, Untidy!

Sadly I report that this wallaby was found by a neighbour last week, killed on the side of a nearby main road.

This unfortunately is an all to common death for our wildlife particularly on country roads; they are dazzled at night by vehicle lights and freeze.
